This book is for people who already have enough knowledge about computers, that they probably don’t need a handbook to start with. The descriptor led me to judge that it was for people who wished to learn about Windows 7. After doing more research, in additional books, I’ve chose not to bother to do the free upgrade to “7.” I judge, that for my purposes, the differences between VISTA and 7 are not vital, and 7 may really be worse. This leader takes an already confusing theme (i.e. computers) and makes it into a nightmare. He uses a VERY ANNOYING sarcasm throughout the book, which I guess is suppose to be humerous and lighten the theme matter. It’s effect is exactly the opposite; he makes the information very confusing and stressful, and reasonably frankly, he just isn’t amusing! I reflect that the description of this book needs to make it reasonably clear that this is not a book for the beginner. I taught myself how to use a computer, using Windows XP and the earlier version of Microsoft Office, for use in obtaining my masters degree, so I guess that makes me more than a begginer, and I was still lost in this book. If you want a computer book to help you make fun of the world of Bill Gates, Windows and the multiple failures of the PC world in all-purpose, this is the book for you. If you’re looking for help to know how to use computers and/ or Windows 7, keep looking.

I spent a lot of time reading the customer reviews before I bought this book. I should have listened to the negative reviews. I am very disappointed in the book because it addresses everything but basic difinitions and how the Windows file sturcture works. For instance he doesn’t even tell you in a clear manner what Aero means, or UNC or UNL or the differnence between forwards slash and back slash. Also the indexing is terrible, everything I looked up wasn’t there. Buying the book was a poor choice.
Finally I bought the book “Windows 7 The Missing Manual” It is a wonderful book and answers nearly every question. Also it is well indexed.
I wish I could return the Dummies book but I have highlighted a lot of it. Maybe Amazon would buy it back from me and sell it as used. I bought the book via Amazon’s website through another distributor.

On the 17 April 2010 I bought the windows 7 all-in-one for dummies. The reason for me buying this book was:
1. Previously I had a windows xp computer, and then a windows vista omputer.
2. I bought the yellow book for dummies for the windows xp, then the one for windows vista. Whenever I had a
problem I went to this book, and it never let me down.
3. From what I read about the new windows 7 with all its bells and whistles I knew I needed something
that I could rely on, and so for the book windows 7 all-in-one for dummies has done this.
I highly recommend this book.

The book was what I imagined. A lot of the info I may never need but nice to know it’s there if I ever want to do some “fancy” stuff.
