Product Description
“I know that I’ll be evaluated in Seattle with wins and losses, as that is the scenery of my profession for the last thirty-five years. But our record will not be what motivates me. Years ago I was questioned, ‘Pete, which is better: winning or competing?’ My response was instantaneous: ‘Competing. . . because it lasts longer.’”
Pete Carroll is one of the most successful coaches in football today. As the head coach at USC, he brought the Trojans back to national prominence, amassing a 97-19 record over nine seasons. Now he shares the championship-winning philosophy that led USC to seven straight Pac-10 titles. This same mind=set and culture will shape his program as he returns to the NFL to coach the Seattle Seahawks.
Carroll developed his unique education style by examination and error over his career. He learned that you get better results by teaching as a replacement for of screaming, and by helping players grow as people, not just on the meadow. He learned that an upbeat, energetic atmosphere in the locker room can coexist with an unstoppable competitive drive. He learned why you should stop worrying about your opponents, why you should permanently act as if the whole world is watching, and many additional contrarian insights.
Carroll shows us how the Win Forever philosophy really works, both in NCAA Division I competition and in the NFL. He reveals how his recruiting strategies, training routines, and game-day rituals preserve a team’s culture year after year, during championship seasons and disappointing seasons alike.
Win Forever is about more than winning football games; it’s about maximizing your potential in every aspect of your life. Carroll has taught business leaders facing tough challenges. He has helped troubled kids on the streets of Los Angeles through his foundation A Better LA. His words are right in any situation: “If you want to win forever, permanently compete.”

This could have been a excellent book if the leader had any credibility.
Let’s see:
* Champions don’t lie to the NCAA
* Champions don’t tolerate cheaters on their team
* Champions don’t look the additional way when illegal activities are in the works
in their program
* Champions don’t hire extra coaches (lacking notifying USC, and) in _Clear_ violation of the association’s (NCAA) cap on coaches
* Champions don’t run programs where the NCAA imposes penalties such as forfeiture of some football victories from 2004-05 (a season which had included winning the Bowl Championship Series title), and all team victories from the undefeated 2005-06 regular season.
I don’t see where Pete Carroll is qualified to inspire anyone or talk about “Play Like a Champion”
The hubris of Pete Carroll is nearly unbelievable.

The leader is a world class sham, and that comes through in his book. For example, pages 128-129: Carroll and his staff made it a point of emphasis to “glean a wealth of information by paying close attention to the actions, mannerisms, and traits of our players. By taking note of the clothes they wear, the hairstyles they choose, their personal interests, and the people they choose to hang out with, we get mountains of information [that help] … direct our efforts to teach each player successfully.” Hello? Is this the same Pete Carroll who weasels out of responsibility for the heavy sanctions levied by the NCAA against his ex- program by claiming he and his staff knew nothing?
Don’t buy this book unless you wish to reward and learn from a cheat and a liar, who has already parlayed years of rules-skirting behavior into fantastic riches.

Play outside the rules and you win until they catch you. But, if you’re smart, quit and go on so you can avoid the mess you’ve made.
