There is perhaps no medical specialty that has more misconceptions, “wives tales” and variation than Obstetrics. Williams Obstetrics is more very much comprehensive than any additional text for all-purpose Obstetrics. Williams has long prided itself on presenting “evidence-based medicine” – separating the wives tales from medical knowledge obtained from published studies from peer-reviewed journals. As a woman who has had a history of hard pregnancies (including unexplained fetal demises), Williams Obstretrics was indispensable to me in my search for the causes of my missed abortions (late miscarriages). Many doctors feel the less patients know from firsthand sources (such as this book), the better it is. But for me, Williams Obstretrics answered many questions not only regarding my losses but also in my uncomplicated pregnancies. OBGYNs don’t need to be told about this book; they swear by it. I reflect their patients should too.
