When I checked this book out of a library, as I read each & every deep-sky entry, the very 1st thing I did as I turned the page was take in up the incorrect and misleading sketches. OK, some people are satisfied with toy telescopes (including 16″ SCT’s) that are “left” (pun) to give backward images, but don’t terrible-mouth reflectors & additional astronomic telescopes while you’re at it. There are roof and dovetail prisms available that give a proper left- to right image, you just have to search to find quality diagonals of this scenery.

After reading reviews on many astronomy books I chose this one. It was not a excellent choice for the astronomy ‘beginner’ that I bought it for.

A excellent initial book on finding your way around the night sky. Oversize makes a small inconvenient, and some of the text is a small stiff compared to similar first books.

I am an amateur and bought this book based on the additional reviews and ratings agreed. I was looking for a book to help me locate some of the more appealing night sky objects and this one seemed to be “the book.” Well, when I got the book, I opened it up and immediately felt a small overwhelmed by all of the text-and I do mean there is a lot of text. More than I wanted. This book just wasn’t what I was looking for in a guide to the night sky. Perhaps later on, I will find this book more helpful.
