First off, I also passed on this book due to the take in picture but after reading some of the reviews, I chose to give it a try.
The thought behind this tale is appealing but I establish the tale VERY missing. It was just okay up until the end and then, like additional reviewers have stated, it completely fell apart. I don’t buy the like scene between the main character, Lane, and the female FBI officer (I reflect her name was Catherine?). I mean they hadn’t spent that much time together and all of sudden she comes out wearing only a t-shirt and panties? For real? I don’t know any woman who would act that way with a man she barely know. Especially any woman that is at a prominent level in her career unless maybe they are the head of their local stripper or prostitution ring. I also thought that the way the main character treated the “terrible guy” and his resolution to the situation was absolutely ridiculous.
I was annoyed with this book but wanted to end it only because I have been trying to make myself end any book that I start. But, I really wanted to just delete this off of my Kindle lacking finishing it.

Terribly edited in every way; infantile in several ways; and a suspicion that a excellent writer couldn’t be bothered, despite the premise, if worked on w/more thought, having considerablle potential. In one word “BOOM” – and start again; lose the laziness.

I liked the characters and the building of suspense. Then the tale fizzed out. I felt cheated by the lack of a levelheaded ending. Still has the promise for a screenplay if the ending is improved.

‘Toe Popper’ is a terrific read, miles better than I was expecting for an unknown leader and a low-priced Kindle edition. The characters are appealing lacking being bogged down with details; the action is non-stop; the location is Southern California hot; and the premise of the book is one I can really buy into.
A tour of the United Nations building in NY includes a spectacle about landmines. Depending on the nationality of your guide, you can get reasonably a address about the US not signing the international treaty against land mines. [The Obama administration did its own review of the treaty and sorry to say agrees with the assessment of previous administrations.] ‘Toe Popper’ brings the land mine issue right home to Americans. Hopefully lots of people will read this book and become more aware of this issue, which was one of Princess Diana’s principal issues.
The only thing I didn’t like about the book was the end. It was very abrupt and leaves you hanging. I guess this means it is the first book of a series, or maybe there is a sequel coming.

Original premise, original voice. Lots of amusing twists and turns. I blazed right through it.
Certainly recommend this one.
