Product Description
Are you really ready to change? Take this quiz and find out.
Every New Year’s Day, my list of resolutions is:
Ambitious. I aim for everything from losing weight to saving more money for my retirement.
Realistic. I just try to bump my excellent behavior up a notch–be a better friend, give more money to charity—lacking giving myself any strict deadlines or goals.
Precise. I choose exactly how many men I will question for a date, or how many new jobs I will apply for.
Whenever I choose to change something, it’s usually because:
My doctor has place the dread of God into me.
I read a magazine article about why building this change is vital.
I start daydreaming about how fantastic life will be after I make the change.
Right or Fake: When you want to make a huge change in your life, timing is crucial.
Failure is:
Impossible.
Inevitable.
Not in my vocabulary.
(The answers are on the inside back flap.)

It’s hard to read because the pages are of a low quality off-white paper, and the print is tiny.

I bought this book, and when I saw there was only text and no pictures or illustrations, I was a bit nervous: Is this book just theoretical and dull?
But I’m reading a small of it every day (one of my “Things to do” is to go too sleep before 11 pm…) and I’m enjoying it. I find myself laughing in recognition of the way we (and I) are, and read especially excellent/fun parts loud to my wife.

I downloaded this book to my Kindle as 2010 approached and after digging the sample but I never read past the first section, Preparing to Change, until six months had passed. I just wasn’t ready but now I’ve scheduled quarterly re-reading because the strategies Ryan provides work well and quickly. This Year I Will… isn’t a system book so there are no rules to follow and perfection is not required. What a relief.
Preparing to Change gets you ready for the how-to of the book, Getting Into Action, and the advice on how to stay on track in the last section, Keeping Going. Each sub-section is blessedly fleeting but has the perfect mix of science and anecdote to keep reading light and simple.

This Year I Will…is a book that tells you how to chanage habits, make resoultuions, etc. (See take in.) What I got out of it was that a person must set their minds to doing something and then they will acheive sucess. Not groundbreking, I know, but the leader really lays it out for the readers of this book on how to accomplish things. I highly recommend this one, along with Gretchen Rubins’s The Happiness Project: Or, Why I Spent a Year Trying to Sing in the Morning, Clean My Closets, Fight Right, Read Aristotle, and Generally Have More Fun.
