Here’s a nice bag of tricks for folks with thick heads. It reminds me of persons late-1990s computer magazines, full of tips that aren’t sophisticated enough for folks who know something about computers, but aren’t likely to be employed by folks who are computer fixated.
Michalko’s offerings might help you reflect things through. But if you’re a deep thinker, you won’t need it. And if you aren’t, you may miss some of the devious import.
Still, if you’re stuck, y’gotta start somewhere…

I loved the CRACKING CREATIVITY while THINKERTOYS was simply too much excellent for me. Soo many (fantastic) tools i simply got lost. I need a few mental models that i can work with daily which CRACKING CREATIVITY did provide. This book provides soo many tools … it’s not for daily usability, at least not for me.

So I was reading one of the many fantastic books by Jeffrey Gitomer. In his books about Sales and the one about Yes!Attitude, he stresses the importance of exercising the mind and being creative in your approach to relationships, both professional and personal.
And one of this top, oft repeated recommendations is Thinkertoys by Michael Michalko. It’s clear within the first few pages that Michalko was challenging me to step out of my comfortable protective shell of assumptions about the world around me and see it in whole new ways.
The combination of Gitomer’s motivation to master a positive attitude with Michalko’s advice on creativity have transformed my life.

I find myself alternative up this book when I need a creative kick start — as a tiny business owner, it helps me shake things up and reflect outside the ordinary.
It’s not magic, as some of the reviews seem to imply. But if you read it with an open mind, it will certainly help you renovate a better sense of business creativity.
