I really have been to Robert Leahy’s center-the American Center for Cognitive Therapy- a let me tell you that it was the largest waste of money in my life. Arrogant, simplistic therapist who wouldn’t even let you talk. CBT is a breezy, pie in the sky treatment not up to snuff to the challenges of an even unperturbed being. [...]

I didn’t find this book helpful. It’s a ragbag of advice with nothing unifying it. Some passages are excellent, like one in which the leader talks about meditation and not being too ego-driven. Most of the book, but, tries to get you to reflect about various things in the hope it will help you worry less, but to me that’s just positive thinking and it’s notoriously ineffective, perhaps even treacherous. For example, one piece of advice is to worry intensely about whatever worries you, for 20 minutes. I did that and finished up more stressed out than ever, not being able to stop the worrying cycle the leader encouraged me to start. That’s just very terrible advice, in my opinion.
Also, I reflect additional reviews on Amazon for this book are biased. Some of them seem to have been written by psychiatrists or psychologists or people who have an interest in the self-help business; perhaps they are also Leahy’s friends (Leahy is the leader of this book), and helping him out by writing positive reviews, probably in exchange for positive reviews written by Leahy on their productions or something like that.

Excellent book with some common sense tools that aren’t so obvious when you’re livin real life. You’ll need the ability to step back and figure out which parts apply to you but the tests help.

I reviewed this product as a therapist for use with my clients. This book is full of practical, simple to know strategies for removing unproductive worry from one’s life. For persons who are not familiar with Dr. Leahy, he is well-respected in the meadow of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and his professional writing has proven to be a welcomed contribution for both new and seasoned mental health professionals. I would certainly recommend this book to anyone who is struggling with All-purpose Anxiety Disorder. Indeed, it may be less helpful for persons seeking help for Point Phobias, OCD, Panic Disorder, and Social Phobia. But, I establish the chapters on the seven steps useful reminders for the average reader- even persons lacking an anxiety diagnosis. I mean, who couldn’t use some well-researched advice on: Identifying Productive and Unproductive Worry, Long-suffering Reality and Committing to Change, Challenging Apprehensive Thinking, Turning Failure into Opportunity, Using Emotions Rather than Worry about Them, and Taking Control of (Your) Time?
I’ve also received excellent feedback from clients who’ve read this book.

Nothing really special here. Seems like it is for women a small bit more than men.
