Set in a raw and unromanticized India, The White Tiger—the first-person confession of a murderer—is as compelling for its theme matter as it is for the voice of its narrator: amoral, cynical, unrepentant, yet deeply endearing.

Looks like the Booker Committee is only too pleased to award authors for portraying the negative side of india. I am ashamed to say that Indians will degrade their country only to win the booker prize!
Adiga has been very immature in his comments about the muslims…
” And yet all the Muslims you meet are illiterate or covered head to toe in black burkas or looking for buildings to blow up?”
“They are not the brightest lot”
Is it not reasonably obvious that Adiga is trying to suck up to the westerners by referring to the burkas and blowing up buildings????
I guess he does not know how many literate muslims are in India and how successful they are… the ex- president of India was a muslim!!!
Well Mr Adiga, wake up and smell the salts!!! Muslims are by far one of the most successful business community in India and in order to be successful one needs to be bright unless of course they suck up to the westerners.
Where does Adiga get off building comments on burkas… well, its a personal inclination and one needs to respect it…. Comments like these are a sheer reflection of bias and immaturity!!

Well..I did not know that I am living in such a mess! and I did not know that Bangalore is so terrible. Wow… thanks for opening my eyes…
I agree that Mr.Adigas need to get attention and he has rights to write against modern India!!!. Seems like he wants to satisfy western whites ..so what do we do now..hmmmm lets talk about Indians!!! they are slaves..and they have 36 crore gods!!! blah blah blah…OK now send to china.
I could not know Is that science fiction? Did Mr.Adiga travel few decades back..oh..oh..I got it now ..I got it now.. he wrote this Novel few decades back. Oh man now I have understood.
Though I am christian, I felt so terrible by reading few(really many) lines of book. I do not want to place it here. Mr.Adigas, I request you to reflect lot and before you write next novel and do not spit on India, though it may satisfy additional peoples.

It’s appealing that Adiga has painted such a negative picture of modern India in a book clearly targeted for a Western audience. Is there nothing excellent to say about life in India today? The tone is caustic and sardonic — the booker committee is permanently pleased to give awards to authors who described India in a negative light.

It is a poor commentary on the Booker selection committee that they choose such authors! Arundhati Roy, Salman Rushdie and now Adiga!
It seems that there is a excellent living in criticizing India to westerners!
Is the west a wee bit jealous of India’s progress, that they award Booker prizes to such authors?
If this trend keeps up then very soon Booker prizes will lose their value!

I HATED THIS BOOK ALL ALONG
BUT FINISHED IT BECAUSE AS IT WON THE BOOKER I THOUGHT IT WOULD GET BETTER NEAR THE END BUT IT DID NOT
THIS BOOK WON AS DID MASTERS OF LITTERATURE SUCH AS
NAIPUL
MC EWAN
RUSHDIE
COETZEE
AMIS
ISHIGURO
ETC
SO WHY ADIGA?
SO I STARTED READING THE REVIEWS PUT ON THE NET BY MOST MAJOR NEWSPAPERS
I MUST HAVE BEEN DREAMING WHEN I READ A REVIEW COMPARING ADIGA WITH DICKENS
POOR ADIGA NEVER TAKES OFF THE FILTHY GROUND OF INDIA AND REMAINS IN HIS DAY TO DAY PETTY PROBLEMS
IN ANOTHER REVIEW HE IS CALLED A PHILOSOPHER.
WHAT A PHILOSOPHY IS IT TO KILL A CHILD ON THE ROAD AND NOT STOP TO HELP
AND LATER TO KILL ONE ‘S BOSS AND FLEE?
IT MEANS THAT LIFE IS WORTHLESS IN INDIA AND IT IS SAD.
I ALSO READ IN ANOTHER REVIEW THAT ADIGA IS A FINE STORY TELLER.
IS HE? IF A STORY IS WHAT IS COPIED FROM THE NOTES OF THE DIARY OF A MARTIAN VISITING INDIA
AND WRITING CANDID REMARKS ON THIS STRANGE ENVIRONMENT
AS FOR THE PREMIER OF CHINA TO WHOM THE BOOK IS ADDRESSED WHY HIM? IT IS HARD TO SEE A RELATIONSHIP
BETWEEN ADIGA AND WEN JIABAO.
TO CONCLUDE THIS LONG REVIEW.
DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME READING THIS BOOK.
