This book has seriously stalled my son’s development. After reading the book to him religiously before bedtime, he now believes himself to be just like the caterpillar. He claims to be very hungry all the time. He is constantly eating, and is apt noticeably heavier. Sorry to say in his case I don’t judge that he will turn into a gorgeous butterfly at the end!

My son loved this book and so did we, until he was left alone with it. Then he chose to pull it apart. Now, it’s in the garbage.

This book has to be one of the greatest sagas ever told, the tale of a caterpillar who eats his way to apt a gorgeous butterfly. I reflect it’s a tale we can all tell to.
I’m going to give it one star anyway because I just stubbed my toe really hard and damn it, I blame this book.

A perfectly illustrated book based on poor scientific knowledge. Butterflies do not come from cocoons – moths do. When butterfly caterpillars pupate, they do not spin silk to make a cocoon. If you want your child to learn inaccurate science, use this book with them.
