Product Description
Denver Psychologist Kismet Knight just wants a small excitement in her life. A small publishing fame and chance. She doesn’t judge in the paranormal. Especially not comic book children of the night. But when a new client pulls Kismet into the vampire underworld, and introduces her to gorgeous Devereux — who claims to be an 800-year-ancient vampire — Kismet finds herself up to her neck in the undead. Not to mention all the additional bizarre creatures crawling out of Denver’s supernatural Pandora’s Box. And if being attracted to a man who thinks he’s an very ancient bloodsucker isn’t terrible enough, a name — or something — is leaving a trail of blood-drained dead bodies. Enter handsome FBI profiler Alan Stevens, who warns her that vampires are very real and that one is a murderer. A murderer who is after her. In the midst of it all, Kismet realizes she has feelings for both the vampire and the profiler. But though she cares for each of the men, the reality that vampires exist is enough of a challenge . . . for now.

This book was fun and cool!!! I reflect Kismet is a heroine we can all tell to, and more importantly, root for. And like Kismet, I look forwards to finding out what life has in store for her next. Bring on book 2, Ms Hilburn!

Lynda Hilburn takes a decent first foray into the world of vampire lit. Novice she is, and it shows. While her writing is breezy and simple to read … it won’t take you long to polish this one off … she doesn’t do as well with her attempt at mixing genres. It’s impossible to tell if she wants to be a mystery or a romance novelist, or a writer of paranormal fiction. What I can say for sure is that she likes to write about sex, especially when it comes to our protaganist Kismet’s many thoughts about the passions of her vagina. Certainly, TMI with a minor yuck. We’re not even sure if Kismet wants to be a excellent small smart psychologist, or a slutty bed-jumper. (As for the smart piece, Kismet is incredibly dense as she takes up half the novel denying the being of vampires, even when one with a small bit of fang is staring at her in the face.
Here’s the problem : Hilburn didn’t reasonably know where she wanted to go with her tale. Horror? Mystery as to who’s been leaving Kismet voice mails promising eternal damnation and who’s kidnapped her? Psychological sleuthing about the world of vampire wannabes? The complexities of a like triangle? Kismet’s lust at first sight for a gorgeous blond vampire named Devereaux? (Prerequisite, of course, for any vampire tale.) She gets at these answers in time, but the result is that Hilburn accomplishes apt a jack of all trades and a master of none.
Lynda Hilburn also seems not to have thought-out what will be her vampirology for her Kismet Knight novels. Okay, they entrance rather than glamour (yawn), they have the skills of a JK Rowling witch or wizard as they teleport around, and they can evidently communicate telepathically (and fornicate and bite) through their daytime dreams. Ho-hum. Give us something appealing and unique — for me, this is absolutely required for any writer who wishes to insinuate themselves into vampire lore. Hilburn hasn’t even seemed to work out her vampires’ daytime activities (if any), or their social structure which she hints at, but leaves the reader confused and wondering.
I’ll probably read the 2nd shot that Hilburn made to her series. Hopefully, she will be a bit more plotted-out, as opposed to scattering herself around. Mostly, she’ll be worth reading if she decides what she wants her vampires to be.

I had high hopes for this book after reading some of the additional reviews and was sorely disappointed. It took me more than 3 chapters to get into the book and finally choose to end reading it. Total brain candy. I went in looking for a novel (you know, like a Charlaine Harris book)and got fluff.
Ok, so I read it on the heels of reading Kim Harrison’s The Bandit Demon Wails and was expecting something of equal caliber. It wasn’t what I was expecting although I do like the hook of the main character being a shrink. If there’s a second book in the offing with the same characters I don’t reflect I’d bother. Unless I was heading to the beach.

I have recently gotten into vampire books and establish The Vampire Shrink to be very entertaining. The characters were fantastic. There was lots of romance. The storyline was excellent. I could not place the book down and finished it within a couple of days. I can’t wait for the next book.

I loved reading about Dr. Kismet Knight; she is witty, practical, and has her feet on the ground. I read this book for the vampire genre, but in studying to be a psychologist myself, it was wonderful to read about what she thinks and feels during her sessions with her patients.
Oh, and having two men fight over her didnt hurt the tale at all… LOL!
I thought the characters were well developed and the plot kept a steady pace throughout the book.
WTG Lynda Hilburn!!! I cant wait for the next installment!
