“In wartime,” Winston Churchill wrote, “truth is so precious that she should permanently be attended by a bodyguard of lies.” For Britain’s counterintelligence operations, this meant finding the unlikeliest agent imaginable-a history professor named Alfred Vicary, handpicked by Churchill himself to expose a highly treacherous, but unknown, traitor. The Nazis, but, have also chosen an unlikely agent: Catherine Blake, a gorgeous widow of a war hero, a hospital volunteer-and a Nazi spy under direct orders from Hitler to uncover the Allied plans for D-Day…Amazon.com Review
In this debut novel, veteran journalist Silva mines the reliable territory of World War II espionage to produce a gripping, historically detailed thriller. In early 1944 the Allies were preparing their invasion of Normandy; critical to the invasion’s success was an elaborate set of deceptions–from sham radio signals to bogus airfields and barracks–proposed to keep Hitler in the dark about when and where the Allied troops would arrive. Catherine Blake is the gorgeous, ruthless spy who could bring the whole charade crashing down; Alfred Vicary is the brilliant but bumbling professor Churchill has tapped to protect the operation. Along with a teeming cast of additional characters, real and fictional, they bring the chase to a furious and satisfying climax.

A name reported all my 3 negative reviews of Daniel Silva books and got them removed! Hmm, I marvel who that could be.
I am rather annoyed at this because I spent reasonably a lot of time detailing why I didn’t like this book, reasonably, I thought. Rumor has it that, a name had chose that they did not follow the review guidelines. Well, I used no profanities. OK, there were some spoilers, but not more than I usually read in additional reviews. Not single worded, no phone numbers, no solicitations, etc. Maybe whoever it was just didn’t like my negative review. The last time I checked, the 1st amendment still applies in this country.
OK, so let me try to post another review of why I didn’t like this book lacking violating any review guidelines, and I’m not going to spend 30 mins on it like last time.
I thought the book was very poorly written and very dull. It was very tedious to end but I made it to the end. I’ve read a couple of additional Daniel Silva books, but neither one of them could change my mind that he is an leader that I don’t like. I will not be buying any more of his books.

To start off I’d only rate the book 4.5 stars, because there were minor flaws, but besides persons it was fantastic. There could’ve been better character developement. Because im stupid I didn’t know the ending. I thought it was a excellent book, and I’ll watch the movie opening day to find out no movie could be as excellent as the book, but that permanently happens. I’ll read them all.

I can’t judge this book got such rave reviews – and even worst, that a name compares to “Eye of the Needle”. I had high hopes and expectations and kept at it for a while hoping that at some point it would pick up but at best it’s a mediocre, unsophisticated attempt at a thriller – lacking feeling and lacking real character development. By the middle ongoing to skip entire sections hoping that at some point it would l but generate some excitgement but finally gave up.

The book is reasonably excellent in its kind, especially its pseudo-past parts. The fictional charachters are mostly stereotypical, yet the plot is thrilling and full of tension. But there is one crucial mistake in the plot, which destroys its credibility altogether. For the sake of future readers, I will not reveal what it is. I would be very pleased to chat about it with the leader, though.

Not as suspenseful as Daniel Silva’s additional two books. The plot was not as excellent as his others, nor was the drama. Certainly not as well written as his additional books.
