What would you do to inherit a million dollars? Would you be willing to change your life? Jason Stevens is about to find out in Jim Stovall’s The Essential Gift.
Red Stevens has died, and the older members of his family tree receive their millions with greedy anticipation. But a different fate awaits young Jason, whom Stevens, his fantastic-uncle, believes may be the last vestige of hope in the family tree.
“Although to date your life seems to be a sorry excuse for anything I would call promising, there does seem to be a spark of something in you that I hope we can fan into a flame. For that reason, I am not building you an instant millionaire.”
What Stevens does give Jason leads to The Essential Gift. Young and ancient will take this timeless tale to heart.

The Essential Gift you sent me was a total disaster. I ordered the movie edition and you sent me a book and a promotional DVD. I did not receive the movie edition of the Essential Gift. Sorry to say I had ordered it to take on a bus trip that I was directing and I had not taken the time to watch what you sent me, thinking it was the movie edition. When I place it in the DVD player with everyone on the bus keen to watch the movie there was only the promotional disc. Needless to say I was embarrassed and not too pleased. Fortunately along the way I was able to buy the DVD that I thought I was buying from Amazon at a much privileged fee. I have ordered from Amazon before and have been very pleased but not this time.

Sorry to say, this book was less than I had anticipated. It was a predictable plot, and I can’t judge that it’s going to be made into a movie. I was bored with it, and I would not recommend it to any of my friends.

to “The Rich Kindergartner’s Guide to Humanity and Compassion”. Seriously, this book is ridiculous. The message is common sense to most people, especially persons who have worked their whole lives just to make ends meet and pride themselves on survival and not materialism. Many will find this message insulting when preached from an ivory tower. It’s a simple universal message that anyone with compassion, like for people, the world and life, probably learned at a very early age lacking having to be instructed by a dead billionaire. You will delight in this book if you are rich, shallow and have only a 3rd grade reading level. Read the New Tribute or Siddhartha if you lack meaning in your life because you are over privileged and have been too distracted by money to learn this basic life lesson by the time you finished elementary school. C ( I gave this book 1 star because I had too).

I bought this paper back version thinking it would be just like the hard back version. It was no where near the same format, quality or look and I was very disappointed. I give this to others as a gift and I will certainly only buy the hard back in the future.

I read this book purely because I’d seen the movie, and it was so fleeting.
Nothing in this book is realistic; it’s so preachy I establish myself skipping entire paragraphs and skimming. I was trying to see if it would ever get better. It didn’t.
Luckily, I’d selected this up at the library, so I wasted no money on a buy. But, it is about half an hour of my life I’ll never get back.
See the movie. At least it has Drew Fuller as eye-candy.
