Product Description
Question anyone on the incorrect side of the law about the two minute rule and they’ll tell you that’s as long as you can hope for at a robbery before the cops show up. Break the two minute rule and it’s a lifetime in jail. But not everyone plays by the rules…
When ex-con Max Holman finally gets out of jail, freedom doesn’t taste too sweet. The only thing on his mind is reconciliation with his alienated son, who is, ironically, a cop. But then he hears the devastating news: His son and three additional Los Angeles police officers were gunned down in cold blood the night before Holman’s relief. When the hit is exposed as a revenge killing and the question of police corruption is raised, it becomes a father’s last duty to clear his son’s name and catch the killer. With all the fundamentals that have made Robert Crais one of the very best crime novelists today, The Two Minute Rule is gripping, edgy suspense from the leader who sets the standard when it comes to surprising plot twists and powerful characters.

I simply do not see any point in mixing Crime Fiction with Crime and Punishment.

I’ve read every book in the Elvis Cole series and loved them all. The characterization is superb, the plots intricate enough to hold one’s interest until the conclusion. “Hostage” was a departure from the familiar for Mr. Crais and he pulled it off. Another fantastic read! Imagine my joy in getting an advance copy of “The Two Minute Rule”. Another fantastic time to be had.
Well, I’m more than two-thirds through the book and I can honestly say that not much has happened. I’m about to give up. There was more action in the seven page prologue than in the next three hundred pages. Also, I thought you were supposed to care about the main character; in this case, Max Holman. Well, at this point I don’t care what the heck happens to Holman. He’s one-dimensional at best! And wishy-washy to boot. Aww, what the heck, I gave up at page 228. Sorry, Mr. Crais, better luck next time.

Although missing the characters of Elvis Cole and Joe Pike, the tale and characters of this book more than made up for it.

This is the only Robert Crais novel I ever read that I didn’t like. I had to push myself to end it. It features all the minutia about bank robbing –it’s like the leader read a book on the theme– and the least likeable characters he’s ever made.
Spare yourself the annoyance of reading this and read “The Watchman” as a replacement for.

This writers work was recommended to me and I felt that it was worth a try. The tale line is slow to renovate and a poor job exists in truly learning the characters in this book. Although the action does pick up as the tale goes on, it takes about 250 pages for the action to get going. The tale is reasonably predictable and is far from what I was hoping for. It nearly seems as if the writer was fighting to meet a deadline and this work was shoddily place together. Attention to detail and errors in the proofreading of this work added to my unhappiness.
