This fourth and final volume of The Sword delivers everything that readers who have been following the series could wish for: fantastic action sequences, dramatic character moments, clean and well-polished art, and an incredible ending that wraps everything up nicely. I felt kind of sad at the end, because I finally realized that this is it, and that Dara and her mates might not be seen in comic books again, and this gave me a twinge, since I loved this series more than I realized. I don’t want to give away any plot points, but I feel I have to mention that an unexpected appearance is made by one of the characters from the earlier volumes, and in doing so emerges as the best character of the series, even better than Dara herself. For persons of you who have read the earlier volumes you know by now that in this volume Dara has to go up against the most treacherous of the four immortals that killed her family tree – Malia, mistress of Air. Their battle is epic and intense, and spans for more than three quarters of the book. I was awed, horrified, surprised and finally blown away by the planet shattering ending. If you are a fan of the Luna Brothers at all, you need to pick this up. In this volume, they could do no incorrect in terms of the writing and art. Buy The Sword Vol.4: Air.
