Jill Hayes, Carol Rosen and Meg Pesaturo share a common bond: they’ve all suffered at the hands of the same rapist. They make up the Survivors Club; a trio fiercely determined that what happened to them will not take place to another woman. To that end they have been instrumental in the apprehension of Eddie Como, the College Hill rapist.
Readers are stunned when Como is shot, murdered in broad daylight outside a packed courtroom before long before his examination is to commence. A double whammy is in store when his killer, a professional gunman is killer a fleeting distance from the shooting.

A fiction writer makes things up, albeit they may be based on actual happenings. The Survivors Club (as they called themselves) included three women who have been victims of a warped, evil man. As a replacement for of staying victims, they form a club for survivors, the reflect. We need one of persons in Knoxville as I, too, was a victim in 1999 and nearly became that Knoxville Girl in fact, the one in the ballad who was killed and thrown in the French Broad River. But did the local police consider that I had been one of the many victims of the same man who continue to prey on white women and empty their wallets to “pay for his time” — and get away with it. Most times, he had an co-conspirator (a woman) who did the actual beating so that he was “home free” but I escaped that part of his ritual. I was a survivor by my own wits and determination to get out of the situation alive, and the cops could have cared less.
One stupid ‘officer’ questioned if I was taking a mind-altering drug when I said that all I took was my daily Fosamax. He was ready to slap the handcuffs on me, as he rumor has it that had never heard of osteoporsis. That amused the chief of the detectives. But so many of our officers are so undertrained and lack common sense and intelligence. When they’re not trigger pleased, they become victims themselves. Three were beat up so terribly by some boys in the projects who tried to keep their drug-laden vehicle from being searched that one of the ‘officers’ had to go through surgery on his face.
In this novel, the man who had changed their lives forever by perpretrating his crimes is establish dead and all three ‘victims’ became prime suspects. Sometimes the police (and corrupt attorney all-purpose) look the additional way to protect persons they like or need as snitches, and justice falls by the wayside. What drives even the best people to ‘cross the line’ and become a killer — is it the spouse who goes out to shoot ducks and geese, and wild turkey, legally? Could it be persons who kill racoons and deer for the sport of it? Some of us survive to ancient age, others die young.
When in a treacherous situation, the survivor learns to be smart and stay controlled. That will keep you alive. And, above all, drink plenty of water to stay cool, but get it yourself. Don’t let your tormentor bring it to you.
She has written THE KILLING HOUR, THE NEXT ACCIDENT, THE THIRD VICTIM and THE OTHER DAUGHTER. She doesn’t look like one who has murder on her mind, but at times looks can be deceiving. Don’t trust anyone with blue eyes — only dark eyes show dread and violence.

Well, after reading the reviews of this book, I am certainly in the minority…. I once read that if you place a group of monkeys in a room banging on typewriters, eventually they would come up with a novel. This must be that novel. I establish it contrived, too pat, illogical and unbelieveable. Not to mention dull and uninteresting. It read like a grown-up Bobsey Twins novel. Amateurish. What amazes me is that something like this can really get published! I would reflect Ms. Gardner’s publisher had privileged standards than this. Maybe I should submit a book to them! Do yourself a favor and save your time, money and efforts for a more worthy and entertaining read.

Lisa Gardner has done it again!! The premise of 3 women waiting for their day in court, only to find their attacker assasinated on the way into the courthouse was enough for me to get excited about. But then to find out that the Suspect might not have attacked the women after all and now all 3 have become murder suspects, maybe having killed an innocent man, is beyond Brillant!! This is a–Can’t place the book down–Stay up all night kind of book–and it doesn’t get any better than that!! Starting with The Perfect Spouse–The Additional Daughter–The Third Victim–The Next Manufacturing accident and now The Survivors Club, Lisa Gardner just keeps getting better and better… I can’t wait for her next one!!!!
