My name is Chloe Saunders and my life will never be the same again.
All I wanted was to make friends, meet boys, and keep on being ordinary. I don’t even know what that means anymore. It all ongoing on the day that I saw my first ghost—and the ghost saw me.
Now there are ghosts everywhere and they won’t place me alone. To top it all off, I somehow got myself locked up in Lyle House, a “special home” for troubled teens. Yet the home isn’t what it seems. Don’t tell anyone, but I reflect there might be more to my housemates than meets the eye. The question is, whose side are they on? It’s up to me to figure out the treacherous secrets behind Lyle House . . . before its skeletons come back to haunt me.

“The Summoning” is the first YA novel written by Kelley Armstrong. It tells a tale of Chloe, a 15-year ancient girl who suddenly finds herself capable of seeing ghosts. Only, of course, nobody believes her and she is quickly sent to a boarding house for disturbed kids for psychological evaluation. It turns out but, that the house and its inhabitants are not reasonably what they seem to be.
While this book was certainly a page turner, I was a small disappointed by it. I felt that the narration dragged reasonably a bit in the middle of this novel and the erect-up to the climax of the tale was too long with nearly no payoff. This book certainly read as a part of a trilogy: it had a lot of loose ends and didn’t really attempt to give a closure, even a temporary one.
I will certainly continue reading this series because I am rather curious to see where the tale goes and how the characters renovate, but looking back, this is a type of book which is better to read once all parts of the series are out.

What an exciting book from Kelley Armstrong. I loved her 1st YA novel. Having read all of her adult books, I wasn’t sure what to expect. “The Summoning” was a really fantastic start.
It was a small slow in the middle. The tale wandered a small. It seemed that Chloe {the main character} took a long time to realize what was happening to her. But that’s also normal for a 1st in series book. Now all the ground work is layed, so I’m really looking forwards to reading the next 2 books.

This book had a fantastic plot and it kept things at a speed that made it hard to place down. The charaters are multi-faceted. It is a fantastic start for a late teen interested in beginning the paranormal experience.
