Product Description
You may have heard somewhere that Neil Gaiman’s Sandman series consistedof cool, hip, edgy, smart comic books. And you may have thought, “What the helldoes that mean?” Enter A Game of You to confound the issue even more, while at the same time standing as a fine example of such a description. This is not an simple book. The characters are dense and unique, while their observations are, as permanently with Gaiman, refreshingly familiar. Then there’s the plot, which grinds along like a coffee mill, in the process breaking down the two worlds of this series, that of the dream and that of the idealist. Gaiman pushes these worlds to their very extremes–one is a fantasy world with talking animals, a missing princess, and a mysterious villain called the Cuckoo; the additional is an urban microcosm inhabited by a drag queen, a punk lesbian couple, and a New York doll named Barbie. In nearly every way this book sits at 180 degrees from the earlier four volumes of the Sandman series–although the less it seems to belong to the series, the more it shows its heart. –Jim PascoeAmazon.com Review

I have never read Sandman before this tale but from what I have heard each tale can stand alone. I also want to say I read neverwhere and “Sandman: The Dream Hunters” and loved them. This tale though just wasn’t his best work or really that excellent. This is my problem with the tale. A lady has dreams that continue every single night like an unending tale. Suddenly, one of the animals in her dreams finds her in real life. Creative? Original? This thought is all of persons things? But, by the end of her tale, every single one of her characters in her dreams that she likes die, you are left to marvel, what is the point??? She lost her battle to keep the creaturs in her dream to stay alive and you aren’t sure if you care because they are only creatures in a dream.
On another note, although I don’t like this tale I have a feeling this sandman series gets better as it goes along, but this one just wasnt excellent, might want to skip it and read a different book in this series

This appealing entry in the Sandman canon has fantastic moments, fascinating artwork and the trademark Gaiman inventiveness all his fans have come to delight in. But, the all-over tale is as magical as some of the others in the series (particularly Season of the Mists, Brief Lives and World’s End).
I couldn’t give it a five, because not everything can get a 5! Even a dynamic as this volume is. It’s a must for anyone thinking of buying the entire hardcover set, because unlike most comics the Sandman is one large perfect tale that needs to be read in order (as it is there is a volume of onoe-shot tales that don’t fall in any particular order within the continuity, per se).
All in all, A Game of You will dazzle and delight in its own unique way.

This is a excellent tale, but that is pretty much where it ends.
Gaiman is capable of much more, as is shown by _Fables &
Reflections_ and additional works. Less profound than, say _The
Sound of Her Wings_ (establish in _Preludes and Nocturnes_ and
_The Doll’s House_).

I personally know it’s hard to get a copy of something that a person hasn’t read through first. Not the case from this user.
Thank you for publicity “new” and giving out something “new.” I would buy from this user again.

It saddens me that people who are not intelligent enough to know something feel the need to trash it. This is the best Sandman tale up until the time it was published. It is arguably the most emotional and seems to be the first to renovate one theme with each word and picture–in this case, identity. Read all of the Sandman tales that came before and then read this one.
