ROUGH GUIDES are the best! We have been to Spain with no reservations and no distress finding accomodation or anything else. I was able to tell a French exchange student who had never been in the Louvre how to get right in lacking waiting in line because of a tip in ROUGH GUIDE to FRANCE. We were able to get into Rome from the airport lacking wasting perhaps hundreds of dollars on a taxi because of the GUIDE to ITALY. The RG to ARGENTINA was our constant companion and professor and friend for a month. We spend a lot of time in New England and find that guide very helpful. Next month we will be taking a road trip to the west coast. There will be five of us: the 2 of us, our 2 dear friends from Spain, and the ROUGH GUIDE TO THE USA. We have tried additional guidebooks friends have recommended, but they all fall fleeting in comparison to the the ROUGH GUIDE series.

I like the Rough Guides and choose them over others on most occasions. I packed this one in my bag when heading off on travels across Spain last year and it did not let my family tree down. It helped us out with places to go, stay and even gave us quick snippets of history when needed.

I like the Rough Guide series in all-purpose, as it is not reasonably a backpacker’s guide, nor a staid and safe guide. It’s made for adventurous folks who don’t automatically want to camp out or stay in hostels all the time. I mostly use the guide for places to eat and things to do. The guide worked fantastic in Spain recommending neighborhoods that have slightly more character than the traditional tourist path. I feel as if we had some fantastic finds for places that were still loved by locals.

The Rough Guides rarely disappoint. They are thorough and appealing. My only complaint is that Murcia, as usual in guidebooks like this, just doesn’t get the treatment it deserves. I permanently buy the most recent edition, but suggest you can probably skip an edition now and then!

Have been using this book, along with Rick Steve’s Spain book, to plot a trip to Spain. Rough Guide includes an incredible amount of information about many, many places in Spain. Rough Guide covers many more places than Steve’s book, although they complement each additional. Rough Guide gives a fantastic feel for the breadth of places to explore.
