Although I am enjoying this book, I reflect the Leader writes too many of his own personal opinions about the topic of reading to children. I would prefer a book that give facts, and leaves out the writer’s personal opinions and commentaries. My 21 month ancient daughter likes books and questions me to read to her constantly, which is why I bought this book. I like books too. So I was hoping to buy a book that basically listed quality titles to read to children. This book offers more of the Leader’s opinions than it offers information on excellent books to read.
As a side note, since kids are all different, some children may never take to this kind of reading because they gravitate to something else….like composition, sports, art, etc. That is not a crime; it makes the world of people appealing.

This book is simple to read and follow. I am studying to teach and this is one of the few books not written by a Dr. so it offers a fresh perspective!

The leader’s point is divine but the book is pretty torturous to read. Too many of his opinion are logically unsound, hyped or just unadorned incorrect. He regularly makes broad statements based upon a single anecdote. He also overuses endnote references that lend a fake gravity to what he’s adage. As a result, much of this text reads like one of persons “fake news article” advertisements you see in magazines from time to time. I establish myself so outraged and insulted I was really LESS compelled to read to my children!
*BUT* the book pointer in the back of the book is worth the money. It also accounts for about a third of the pages.
My Advice: Skim Chapter 1. Skip everything else. Use the pointer in the back to select some wonderful classic books to read to your kids.
What a bring shame on that the leader of a book about such an vital topic has done such an atrocious job of presenting it. I’m disappointed and more than a small troubled.
