Product Description
From the #1 New York Times best-selling leader of God Is Not Fantastic, a provocative and entertaining guided tour of atheist and agnostic thought through the ages–with never-before-published pieces by Salman Rushdie, Ian McEwan, and Ayaan Hirsi Ali.
Christopher Hitchens continues to make the case for a splendidly godless universe in this first-ever gathering of the influential voices–past and present–that have shaped his side of the current (and raging) God/no-god debate. With Hitchens as your erudite and witty guide, you’ll be led through a wealth of philosophy, literature, and scientific inquiry, including generous parts of the words of Lucretius, Benedict de Spinoza, Charles Darwin, Karl Marx, Mark Twain, George Eliot, Bertrand Russell, Emma Goldman, H. L. Mencken, Albert Einstein, Daniel Dennett, Sam Harris, Richard Dawkins, and many others well-known and lesser known. And they’re all set in context and commented upon as only Christopher Hitchens–”political and literary journalist extraordinaire” (Los Angeles Times)–can.
Atheist? Believer? Uncertain? No matter: The Portable Atheist will speak to you and engage you every step of the way.

If you haven’t establish God yet then keep looking. Don’t Stop. Never Stop Looking.
There is a lot of evidence for God = The Bible. There is a lot of scientific evidence supporting his being. I will start with Intelligent Design as it is supported by modern scientists and destroys the theory of evolution. Check for yourself. As they learn more about DNA then it becomes impossible to justify creation by manufacturing accident. I recommend “The Case for a Creator” by Lee Strobel. He has both a book and DVD by this same name. See if you can dispute the evidence that DNA is extremely complex and couldn’t have been made accidentally. Scenery also shows there is a God. There are a number of animals that defy evolution. There is a DVD series called “Incredible Creatures that defy Evolution”.
If you are trying to justify being a nonbeliever then look at the evidence that Christians espouse. I have only agreed you a couple of examples above.
Be Honest with yourself.
If you are looking for God then I have agreed you some suggestions above. If you want to be a nonbeliever or stay a nonbeliever then I still challenge you to watch The case for a Creator. Look for a levelheaded argument against Lee Strobel. It will be a real challenge if you are open minded.
Excellent Luck

This may have been a excellent book. Sorry to say, it was WAY TOO BIG for a semi-invalid to hold and read! So I managed to read only the brilliant introduction

Lacking a doubt, some fantastic readings from fantastic minds (maybe Hitchens included). The problem seems to be that Atheists in all-purpose, and as borne out through this and additional Hitchens books, assume a stance which is easily argued as an irrational counter belief that there is no God. What is open as fact is really nothing more than a very different interpretation of facts or causal relationships than persons who judge in God. Were Atheists more rational and less vitriolic in their dismissal of a greater being, they might be more convincing. The position that the being of God can’t be known or proven, yet can’t really be disproven with Atheists coming down on the side of non-belief would be more persuasive than their silly and irrational depictions of believers as rubes and/or militant delusionists. Sorry, but Hitchens doesn’t convince anyone but persons who are already convinced.

This book is worth reading to learn about the incorrect side of the argument. It collects the opinions of many non-believers each with an equally ill-thought thesis. The majority are just repeating what others have previously espoused.
I have prayed to God that believers who read this will not lose their faith so there is nothing to worry about when reading it. You can safely learn where and how people can go so incorrect. I also prayed for Mr Hitchens and have faith that he will change his mind soon.

I marvel what Hitchens would have said if he learned that all religions have the same source(History: Fiction or Science? (Chronology, No. 1)).History of religions may look as follows: the pre-Christian period (before the XI century and JC), Bacchic Christianity (XI-XII century, before and after JC), JC Christianity (XII-XVI century) and its subsequent mutations into Orthodox Christianity, the Catholicism, Islam, Buddhism, and so on.
