The Outdoor Knots Book by Clyde Soles (Mountaineer Books) is a thorough, concise, simple to read, useful book describing all or most of the extremely useful outdoor knots (like the title says).
Reading the description and following the instructions, you can really make the knot and use it.
The knots are useful in a variety of situations: backpacking, hammocking, camping, mountaineering, and even around the house. A selection of marine knots is included as well for a completely useful book. Well worth the time and money if you want to gain a skill.

As a ex- boy scout, I took to this book like a duck to water. I wanted to provide the knot knowledge to my kids and grand kids. This is a fantastic book and I’ll place it to excellent use. It might even save your life some day. Be prepared.

I concur in the following review, and so should you:
Written by Clyde Soles (rockclimbin.com member csoles). This is the best book I have ever encountered on the theme. Many misinformed posts on ropes and knots could have been avoided if this book had been read before. Well done, Clyde.

I delight in this book because of the simple layout and pictures of each knot. Also with all the names included for each knot you will not be left scratching your head on what knots are called by either craggers, sailors, or just unadorned mountain men.
Fantastic for climbers wanting to freshen up on some knots or beginners looking to get into tying things up.
