Any parent who has a children that has learning disabiilities needs to stay away from this method. Please examine the Orton-Gillingham or Spalding Method. There are homeschooling versions of these programs called Spell to Write and Read by Wanda Sanseri and Sound Beginnings by Julia Fogassy.
I work with dyslexic kids and find whole language and these type of phonics programs do learning disabled kids a fantastic disservice.

This book is strictyly phonics with a few sight words sprinkled in. The book was okay. I just prefer an equal balance of phonics and sight words. In my opinion, me this book did not provide that balance.

This book is not comprehensive and does not teach writing or spelling. It also doesn’t take in sylables until the end of the book and it groups words together according to their endings and similar vowel sounds which is confusing for beginning readers and gives them a backwards focus that is not reliable with all words that have the same ending or vowel spelling. I would recommend that as a replacement for of getting this book, to use “Spell to Write and Read” by Wanda Sanseri. This is a full curriculum that you can use from pre-school/kindergarden through highschool. The total cost for the program is about $200 so it is very pricey initially, but it is the best way to teach reading. I wish I had known about it five years ago! This book was surprising simple to use. I ongoing on Monday and told my spouse, “Our child will be reading by Friday”
I was incorrect…he was reading by Wednesday! I was pleasantly surprised and excited at how simple it made it for me to teach him.

I like the lessons in the book and the flow of the lessons works well. It could use a small color/pictures to make it more appealing to a young child learning to read.
