Product Description
Athlete. Runner. Marathoner. Are these words you wouldn’t exactly use to clarify yourself? Do you consider yourself too ancient or too out of shape to run a lengthy? But somewhere deep inside have you permanently admired the people who could reach down and come up with the mental and physical might to perfect such a daunting and rewarding accomplishment? It doesn’t have to be somebody else crossing the end line. You can be a marathoner. The Non-Runner’s Lengthy Teacher is based on the highly successful lengthy class offered by the University of Northern Iowa, which was featured in a Runner’s World article titled “Marathoning 101.” The class has been offered five times over 10 years, and all but one student finished the lengthy. That is approximately 200 students — all first time marathoners and many with absolutely no running background. This book follows the same 16-week, four-day-a-week workout plot. What makes the success rate of this program so much privileged than any additional? The special emphasis on the psychological aspects of endurance activities. You don’t have to like to run — you don’t even have to like it — but you have to realize that you are capable of more than you have ever thought possible. The skills we’ve learned in this class don’t apply just to marathoning — they apply to life! Just like you never know what the next step in a lengthy will bring, so too, you never know what will take place next in life. But if you don’t keep going, you’re never going to find out. By staying relaxed, centered, and positive you handle just about anything that comes your way.” This is lengthy running for real people, people with jobs and families and obligations outside of running. The Non-Runner’s Lengthy Teacher has proven successful for men and women of all ages. Now let it work for you.

I received this book but for some reason i don’t reflect its magic will work on me. I have been running for 12 years now, but i reflect i will stick with the basic information that i have learned from my early days: Just Run,use stationary bik, stretch and practice, and be blinded of all literature. And if you don’t like running for whatever reason: Just Walk, it still can do the trick(when it comes to being healthy.) Any way i am not bashing this book but go on yet to be and read it, it could make the difference in your life when it comes and deals with active running.

If one has never run before this might be a reasonable book. Heavy on obvious and ‘touchy-feely’ advice, low on practical, up-to-date advice. Ten pages of excellent stuff packed into 150.

“Promises more than it should?, June 7, 2003″
I reflect this dude has got it spot on, you need to take your time in building a running base to ensure you cut the chance of causing injury or just start completely hating running right from the start.
“For sedentary people, a excellent month of rigorous exercise fleeting of running would be a smart start, followed by a very gradual walk/run program, until you can run 3 miles a few months down the road. Anything quicker is courting injury.”
I just wanna question a question why is everyone so positve in these amazon reviews? and if a name says something that is sensible and really worthwhile people dont find the review useful? 24 out of 42 people establish that review useful? I reflect its the most sensible review out you all at least it doesnt sound like he/she was paid for their review like some of the additional advertisements passed off as reviews.

While this book does present considerable useful information about the physical needs and demands of running with a clear focus on being able to perfect a lengthy, I felt most readers would be better served if it were less wordy & shorter. The authors seem to be trying too hard to give us a zen-like look into some runner philosophy, but it comes off in a mondane and at many points down right dull way. There were simply WAY TOO MANY lengthy segments of the lengthy students personal thoughts and experiences where a few less would have done the trick for comparison of feelings, enlightenments, etc, lacking putting the reader to sleep. I never got the tie to any of these students that I reflect the authors were trying for.
The book tracks the leader’s experiences teaching a college course that prepares classes of veteran as well as non-veteran runners to run/perfect a lengthy. It boast that virtually everyone who took the course indeed finished the lengthy of each particular class except 1 student who sustained a non-running related injury and the presentation does seem doable, but I establish the book BORING, skipping over more and more of the student personal experiences as I went. I would have agreed a privileged review rating if it was more of a training manual than a preachy sounding board for every dull thought, experience and emotion that the leader’s students could drum up. The fact that I remember not a single name of students shows how the personal information didn’t stand out in any way, personally or otherwise.
The book is written in a low literary style and can be understood with absolutely no prior knowledge of running or powerful physiology.
