I have no time or sympathy for “The Mole People” as the people who live in the Subways and tunnels are called. They choose to live there where they can spend their days in darkness geting high or drunk. They do not wish to conform to the Rules that may be establish in a Homeless Shelter so they drag their children down with them into the darkness. What particularly disturbed me about this book was the profile of the so called “Mayor Of The Underground” who discourages people from ever seeing the light of day again. He is described in the book as being a sociopath and rightly so. Just because he has forsaken his own dignity as a human being should not entitle him to try to wield any influence on anyone else’s life. The Mole People choose to eat “track rabbits’” i.e. rats in a city where 5 star restaurants regularly place out meals from the homeless. The leader tries to gain our sympathy for these misguided misfits but all she succeeded in doing was digust me.

Tired of reading the same ancient zhit about “The Homeless”? Then check out a book that was really WRITTEN by a homeless person, namely, me: Ace Backwords. Check out “SURVIVING ON THE STREETS: How to Go Down Lacking GOing Out” for the real tale. Available from http://www.amazon.com of course

They’ll eat you alive. The only time in my life I’ve ever been directly threatened was by a mole person. They’re obviously all evil, demonic creatures, as evidenced by the films “Devil’s Advocate” and “Jacob’s Ladder.”

i read this book when i was real young and it had me thinkin i wanted to be a mole person. i was hangin out with homeless people, trying to find a mole person. trying to spy secret passageways underground, not caring about my future cuz i could permanently fall back on being a mole person. don’t give this book to your kids. but if you’re in your twenties its a cool, appealing book.

Nothing makes me angrier than an leader who “claims” fact & accuracy when fabricating a tale to make it more delicate to a wide audience.
The real fact is – there are no freaks of scenery running around underground (no more so than above) and there are no lost/hidden/unused/incomprehensible stations which now serve as luxury accommodations for societies of Mole People.
BUT (here is the kicker) NO ONE WOULD READ A BOOK THAT SPOKE ABOUT THE REALITY- it is far more appealing to make a world that taps on our imagination (i.e.: conspiracy theory)
So much of the book is inaccurate or fake, it makes me question what is real and what isn’t. For an analysis of the book and conversations with the leader which uncover her lack of credibility- see the following links<…
