This large, deluxe hardcover edition of the first title in the classic Chronicles of Narnia series, The Magician’s Nephew, is a gorgeous introduction to the magical land of Narnia. The many readers who learned C.S. Lewis’s Chronicles through The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe will be delighted to find that the next volume in the series is really the first in the sequence–and a step back in time. In this unforgettable tale, British schoolchildren Polly and Digory inadvertently tumble into the Wood Between the Worlds, where they meet the evil Queen Jadis and, ultimately, the fantastic, mysterious King Aslan. We witness the birth of Narnia and learn the legendary source of all the adventures that are to follow in the seven books that comprise the series.
Rich, heavy pages, a gold-imprinted take in, and Pauline Baynes’s original illustrations (hand-colored by the illustrator herself 40 years later) make this special edition of a classic a bona fide treasure. (Ages 9 and older) –Emilie Coulter

A Review by Crystal
Two small people meet eachother for the first time in their whole lifes, in the beginning of this tale. They become the best of friends because they live right near eachother.they spend the whole summer hanging out and exploring. They start their small exploring too much to the point where it gets them into deep distress. They get tricked into being sent into another world. They go through many problems they have to take on thierselves to solve.
This book hits just about the same thing. It seems lilke it is trying to be a cliffhanger but the leader tried a small too hard. For example, throughout the whole tale something is happening and it does get a small confusing. There about five or sox different situations going on that you have to fallow. Honestly, I didn’t like permanently trying my toughest to know what the heck is going on. Also, at the end of the tale the parents didn’t even question where their children have been the whole time they were gone. You cant honestly say that if your children had been gone for the amount of time these two children were gone, you wouldn’t question them where they had been. This tale is kind of shiny off of some additional books that I have read about magic and magic related books. It is just kind of a worse version of “The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe”. Its defiantly not worth reading. If you like magic tales, I recommend you try something else besides this one.

I read the Mgicians Nephew for a school report. I like the chronicles of narnia books but, i was deeply appauled by the lack of excitment of this book. It was dull and there was onyl one excellent part. I did delight in how it connected to the lion, the witch, and the wardrobe but. I guess i shouldn’t have expected much form the first book that started it all though. But i would highly advise you to not read this book but as a replacement for just read a synopsis because its not worth your time.
