Product Description
In this stunning follow-up to the global phenomenon The Da Vinci Code, Dan Brown demonstrates once again why he is the world’s most well loved thriller writer. The Lost Symbol is a masterstroke of storytelling–a deadly race through a real-world labyrinth of codes, secrets, and unseen truths . . . all under the watchful eye of Brown’s most terrifying villain to date. Set within the hidden chambers, tunnels, and temples of Washington, D.C., The Lost Symbol accelerates through a startling landscape toward an unthinkable finale.
As the tale opens, Harvard symbologist Robert Langdon is summoned unexpectedly to deliver an evening address in the U.S. Capitol Building. Within minutes of his arrival, but, the night takes a bizarre turn. A disturbing object–cunningly encoded with five symbols–is learned in the Capitol Building. Langdon recognizes the object as an very ancient invitation . . . one meant to usher its recipient into a long-lost world of esoteric wisdom.
When Langdon’s beloved mentor, Peter Solomon–a prominent Mason and philanthropist–is cruelly kidnapped, Langdon realizes his only hope of saving Peter is to accept this mystical invitation and follow wherever it leads him. Langdon is straight away plunged into a clandestine world of Masonic secrets, hidden history, and never-before-seen locations–all of which seem to be dragging him toward a single, inconceivable truth.
As the world learned in The Da Vinci Code and Angels & Demons, Dan Brown’s novels are brilliant tapestries of veiled histories, arcane symbols, and enigmatic codes. In this new novel, he again challenges readers with an intelligent, lightning-paced tale that offers surprises at every turn. The Lost Symbol is exactly what Brown’s fans have been waiting for . . . his most thrilling novel yet.
Amazon.com Review
Let’s start with the question every Dan Brown fan wants answered: Is The Lost Symbol as excellent as The Da Vinci Code? Simply place, yes. Brown has mastered the art of blending nail-biting suspense with random arcana (from pop science to religion), and The Lost Symbol is an enchanting mix. And what a dazzling accomplishment that is, considering that rabid fans and skeptics alike are scrutinizing every word.
The Lost Symbol starts with an very ancient ritual, a dark enclave, and of course, a secret. Readers know they are in Dan Brown territory when, by the end of the first chapter, a secret within a secret is revealed. To tell too much would ruin the fun of reading this tasty thriller, so you will find no spoilers here. Suffice it to say that as with many series featuring a recurring character, there is a bit of a formula at work (one that fans will like). Again, brilliant Harvard professor Robert Langdon finds himself in a quandary that requires his vast knowledge of symbology and superior problem-solving skills to save the day. The setting, unlike additional Robert Langdon novels, is stateside, and in Brown’s hands Washington D.C. is as fascinating as Paris or Vatican City (note to the D.C. tourism board: get your “Lost Symbol” tour in order). And, as with additional Dan Brown books, the pace is relentless, the revelations many, and there is an endless parade of intriguing factoids that will make you feel like you are spending the afternoon with Robert Langdon and the guys from Mythbusters.
Nothing is as it seems in a Robert Langdon novel, and The Lost Symbol itself is no exception–a page-turner to be sure, but Brown also challenges his fans to open their minds to new information. Skeptical? Imagine how many additional thrillers would spawn millions of Google searches for noetic science, superstring theory, and Apotheosis of Washington. The Lost Symbol is brain candy of the best sort–just make sure to set aside time to delight in your meal. –Daphne Durham

Dan Brown has done it once again. He’s used a thriller to promote his religious thoughts, specifically the New Age religion. The Lost Symbol ends by concluding that God does not exist, that man made Him. Dan Brown states categorically with no room for debate that man can become god and really is god.
Truly after the plethora of past inaccuracies and the liberty taken with art history in the Da Vinci Code combined with his attacks the person of Christ, could we have expected anything less for him now? He has not changed his stripes.
There is a reason Brown kept the plot of this novel in the dark for so long. He did not want knowledge of its content to harm sales. He is attempting to kill God, but of course, that is impossible. He is to be pitied.

His books are very dark, and evil like, so not excellent for the soul. I rather read pope benedict;s
Jesus of Nazareth
Or Susanna Magdalene Favius’s
Why Banning Communion in the Hand, and Kneeling is Pleasing and Respectful to Jesus.

I pre-ordered this book, and expected to get it (as advertised) on the relief date. Imagine my surprise to find that I have a ship date of September 21. I’ve spoken to Amazon customer service, which was no help, and the customer service representative said I should have ordered priority shipping. I have pre-ordered on Amazon before with fantastic results, even for Harry Potter and Twilight books. It’s too late to cancel the order and just pick it up at my local bookstore. I didn’t really want to wait until October to get this book, and am very disappointed in Amazon, especially the very rude service representative.

Dan Brown has returned with another shocking waste of natural resources. 5 years of research – Doing what? watching ancient Discovery channel konspirata CDs? And worse writing. Of course, it will be a best seller. This is the same country that elected a total incompetent for President twice, and shakes with orgasmic seventh heaven over Survivor:Malibu. This is perfect dreck and you should be ashamed of yourselves for reading it
