I bought this book after a painful break-up. I did not care for this book. It’s sort of long and basically did nothing to help me.

Susan Anderson’s book “Journey From Abandonment To Healing” is the only book you need to buy on this theme, so save your money and just buy this book. It is the best information out there on the theme. It is also very well written so that it flows well and is easily understood. I’ve read several additional books on abandonment and like loss and they were not nearly as excellent because they either did not contain all the information that Susan Anderson’s book did or they were written with too much professional jargon that the average reader would find a tiring hindrance. If you like to check out all the additional sources of info out there like I do, save your cash and time and just buy this book.

I establish this book about 7 months in to my healing process and wished I had establish it earlier. It is a very accurate description of what your feeling and experiencing. Each phase is right and will validate your feelings so you know you are normal and that you will survive and thrive.

The title, “Journey From Abandonment…” had me confused. I didn’t reflect that this book applied to me, though I needed some heal in healing from my recent divorce. I chose to buy the book after reading the reviews and parts of the book excerpts available on line.
After reading the book, I recommended it to several friends who were also in various stages of healing.
This book has been invaluable to me – pointing out things about my relationship, my ex- spouse and how we choose the people we choose in life. It is very insightful and nearly frightenly revealing as you metaphorically have to look yourself in the mirror and face what stares you back.
The healing exercises were hard to do on my first read, simply because I didn’t have an thought of what an attainable life would look like at the time. Upon my 2nd & 3rd re-read of certain passages in the book, I can tell you that the healing exercises are powerful and strengthening.
I recommend this book to anyone who is recovering from loss of any type – death, divorce, loss of a relationship or loss of a loved one – because it clarifies what you are going through and how to handle that inner mental dialogue you have with yourself during persons moments of pain, uncertainty, grief and loss.
It has helped me heal by leaps and bounds at a time and I would not have been able to recover as well lacking this book. This book will help… just don’t get thrown off by the title or the word abandonment!

Years of loss, rejection, abandonment?….this book is for you! Simple to read and know – allows for healing and understanding. Some of the exercises are excellent, but did not do all of them – combined this book with Eckhart Tolle, “power of now”.
All is well, NOW!
