Oh my, one more motivational speaker, one more book about helping corporate America pad its pockets while its workers are supposed to snub the core greed and place a smile on their faces and be Freds while the huge shots benefit. Sorry, this just doesn’t resonate with workers today who see their “profit centers” being sucked dry by the huge home office and they are supposed to chin up and be a Fred regardless of the way the huge boys (and ladies) are destroying the company they work for. Let’s hope Fred is still practicing the Fred Factor when he shows up at WalMart or Dollar All-purpose looking for a job because his work has been outsourced, his branch consolidated or his job merged with three others.
Sorry, but if managers and CEOs want more Freds in their workforce, they need to set an example first. If there aren’t any Freds in your trenches, it probably because you don’t have any in your corporate offices, either.

First of all, I read a lot of motivational books – from Covey to Robbins to “Message to Garcia” to One Minute to Rhino Books to Michael Jordan to “How Full is Your Bucket” to Atilla the Hun to Moving Cheese. I read them all the time. It’s a fantastic thing to be able to pick up a tiny book like this one for the quick flight or the train ride home and use it to sharpen your sword. Its even better when you can get them on CD. Yes, I am one really motivated guy.
I liked the book enough to read the whole thing. I don’t like it enough to have to read it again and again like I tend to do with additional motivational books. Plus I don’t like it enough to buy multiple copies of it to give to poeple who work for me.
The main reason for my take on this book is the extreme simplicity of the Fred Factor message. Be excellent and excellent things will come to you. Additional than that, it was a quick read and it does have a few strategies and tactics, which did work to sharpen my own sword, but not very much. You should read this book and then pass it off again to a name you know who could use it.

Buying new from Amazon is nearly permanently the best way to go. As a school secretary having them delivered to our door is permanently a plus. You are quick and accurate. As a college student I like to buy used and you take your chances doing this. BUT if you review who you are buying from FIRST you should have no problems. I have momentously appreciated the deals that I have gotten thru Amazon.

As a teacher and CIO of a company, the FRED FACTOR is the book that every sales person must have to know that extraordinary salesmanship does not require the elaborate.
I recommend the FRED FACTOR for every training our company presents because the message is simple and in that magnificent simplicity, the message can be translated to every level of service regardless of company size.
I read a another review of this book about the book being fleeting and personally I’m reasonably certain that its size contributes to the immediate popularity of the book. WHO MOVED MY CHEESE is also a fleeting book, and both books prove that when you can illustrate the point in a universal tale in an uncomplicated format, the customers vote with impressive sales that this book provides a powerful message for anyone in a service industry.
