The book contains the best animal guide in any Disney World guide book! I loved looking at the maps to see where to find the animals’ location to the information and some pictures on the side! The book also now has pictures of resort rooms! The flaws of the book include small detail on DisneyQuest and The Boardwalk activities. The dining parts has small detail on what the menu offers nor does it include prices of what the food spot has to sell except what kind it sells. Example it just says American food not what types of meat or vegetables or entrees or side dishes offered. This book also lacks on dining plot information. Also an error is present in the touring plans. Also, the book contains some errors on the wait times. The best parts of the book are the expanded animal guide with more pictures and animal details also with maps to see where the animals are at. Also, fantastic shopping guide for souviners. I liked the new resort guide but lacks details on quick food details like the rest of the book does. The resort section but contains better photos of rooms and pools and additional details of that resort. The book also has a page that tells the prices to go to the theme parks for Disney World guests, Florida residents, and annual pass holders. The book also contains fantastic info on back tale of attractions and movies and info about Walt Disney himself like in older editions of this book. My only suggestions to the authors are to add details to dining spots (menu items and prices), DisneyQuest (attractions), and Boardwalk (nightlife activities), but also fix the touring plans.

I am a frequent Disney World vacationer and have been there copious times. Now that my son is three we are getting ready to take another trip to Disney World and I was hoping this book would help us plot our trip. Overall it is a fantastic resource for Disney travelers.
The book starts with a fleeting chapter on the things that are new for 2010. This is fantastic is you have frequented Disney World before and are mainly interested in what’s new there. The second chapter is the most useful of the book and goes into fantastic detail on trip preparation. There is a wonderful chart on the different types of park passes and their costs. The preparation section also goes into fantastic detail on more obscure things that I have never used at Disney World before; like meal plans, quick passes, and child swap. There are fantastic tips on how to save both time and money to make the most of your trip. They also talk about transportation, restaurants, etc. The section on special diets is really tiny, only a paragraph or two. I have two family tree members that have celiac’s disease, so I was a bit disappointed this wasn’t gone into in more detail. Especially since in my previous personal experience Disney World is one of the best places in the world to trip if you do have food allergies.
After these first couple chapters the following chapters focus on each of the four parks: Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Hollywood Studios, and Animal Kingdom. Each park section features your normal information with a map, a list of restaurants, and shopping available. There is also much more unique and useful information such as average wait times for each attraction by time of day, a chart of fastpass return times, a section stating which rides have height restrictions, and a section discussing which rides have parts that may be too scary for younger children. A day (or two day) suggested itinerary for exploring each park is agreed which tells you the most well-organized way to see all the major attractions in the park if you have limited time. Following all this awesome information are page long (on average) sections describing each individual attraction. On these pages you get a small history about the attraction, a description of it, fun facts about it, and average wait times by day.
My only problem with the park chapters in this book is that there is basically only one suggested itinerary for each park; also these itineraries assume that everyone is over 58″. All the itineraries have you arresting the huge rollercoaters…which for a family tree like mine with a tiny child is not an option. It would have been more helpful to have itineraries for family tree’s with tiny children and then itineraries for older groups; I have to imagine the two groups are going to be interested in different things overall. I know when I went to Disney World as a young child I was interested in completely different things than I was when I went back as a pre-teen, teenager, and adult.
Following the park chapters are chapters on Water Parks, Downtown Disney, Recreational Sports, Accomadations, and Special Events. All of these sections are very detailed with brilliant information. There is, of course, an pointer following this. The back page lists a variety of useful Disney numbers.
All in all I was very impressed with the amount of appealing and useful information this book gave on traveling to Disney World. The only weak points were a lack of information for special diets (it’s there but very very brief) and a lack of itineraries. One itinerary is agreed for each park but they assume family tree members are 58 inches or taller. Additional than persons two issues, I thought this was a superb guide.

I have traveled to WDW regularly and have permanently bought the “official” guide. I bought this based on online reviews and overall am very pleased with the guide’s information. I felt this book gave more detailed info on the point changes the parks are undergoing or will be undergoing this year. The “official” guide seems to omit this completely. The pictures are nice but not really necessary for the repeat traveler. I would have liked more info on the restaurants and the dinner shows. How about a tiny chapter on Non-Disney attractions? I still felt I needed the info the “official” guide gave me but find that the information in this guide on the wait times and popularity of the attractions at each park will be invaluable for preparation my days.

The Perfect Walt Disney World book is an brilliant source for Disney veterans and newbies alike. The information is different than what is establish in many additional guide books, and the pictures are outstanding.

My daughter and I look through this Disney World preparation guide every night before going to bed. It has fantastic information about Disney World, many appealing photographs and excellent insight into organizing a Disney trip. My daughter likes that it lists the height requirement of every ride and the average wait time for each ride for every hour of the day. She’s really getting into helping plot our trip!
