This book is too ancient fashion. I was hoping for some new information. I was very disappointed in the recipes, nothing new. I was hoping to find some recipes that didn’t include boiling to seal the jars…On a scale from 1-10 with 10 being the best, I would rate this book with a No. 1….It just wasn’t worth buying in my opinion….Only a hand-ful of photos….

I was very excited about this book. I live alone and most canning recipes are for a tiny army. I haven’t tried and of the recipes but as an veteran cook I know they will taste excellent. My huge let down is the lack of blackberry recipes! They aren’t included in any recipe or in the reading but they are in the take in photo. I feel that this is a bit illusory. Overall the additional recipes look tasty but the total disregard of one of the fruits from the take in is at best disappointing.

I read the Amazon reviews about some being disappointed there were “freezer” preserving recipes inside but there aren’t that many of them even if you don’t like the thought. And, unless a SHTF or natural disaster LONG power outage scenario occurs where freezing might not be such a excellent thought, the rest of the time freezing is a fantastic thought to save on groceries not just for her recipes but for people buying bread/meat on sale and freezing it. Stock up on canned/dried foods for “urgent situation” situations but buy this book for the tiny batch preserving recipes and yes, for the freeze preservation recipes.
This book is fantastic. The Mint Raspberry Peach Jam is the best! I used store bought FROZEN raspberries and FROZEN peaches (see freezing isn’t all terrible) to make it. This book is simple to read and simple to know. I cannot wait to make the many salsas described inside! I bought The Perfect Book of Tiny Batch Preserving on overstock dot com although Amazon was slightly cheaper because of free S/H because at Overstock I also bought How to Survive End of the World as We Know it, Urgent situation Food Storage Guide, SAS Urban Survival Guide and several additional books some of which Amazon was charging S/H for. So buying all my books at Overstock, the S/H was only $2.95 total and I went though ebates dot com and got a 4% CASH BACK.
For persons of you with small refrigerator freezer space with tiny homes/apartments, I bought an Avanti VM799 for around $280 about 4 years ago. It is an upright TALL THIN NARROW freezer with 5 CLEAR plastic pull out drawers and one tiny top part for bacon/hot dogs/ice cube tray. Fantastic to organize (meats in one drawer/veges in another, tiny batch preserves in another, etc.) and the drawers fit one of the HUGE Stouffers FAMILY lasagna frozen meals laid flat on bottom of drawer with room on top to place a bag or two of frozen vegetables.
Sorry to say the new Avanti Model VM165 – 5.8 CF Vertical Freezer replaced the clear drawers with hideous shelves.
For persons who still want NARROW TALL CLEAR DRAWERS and a SMALL UPRIGHT FREEZER consider the: (I own the Equator refrigerator and have had no problems)
a) Equator FR 650 Upright Freezer 6.5 CF- Stainless Steel
b) Bosch Exxcel GSN28V61 277 Litre Upright Freezer in Silver. I establish in sold in the U.S. in only one place for $569.70. stores dot channeladvisor dot com/Rodmanstore/items/item dot aspx?itemid=1590645
Another UGLY SHELF only tiny upright freezer is the The Kenmore White 7.5 cu ft Upright Freezer. What is it with Kenmore and Avanti only selling American patrons UGLY shelves upright freezers as a replacement for of drawers like they sell patrons ALL OVER THE WORLD?
Not more than are Vortex freezers models. Google IMAGE them. See the clear drawers and how tiny, convenient and upright they are, salivate, and then contact Vortex (whirlpoolcorp dot com

Don’t buy a Danby freezer. Google and see lots of reliability issues.
