“The Builders, Gemma Open Door” by Maeve Binchey. I bought this for Maeve Binchey fans among friends. Personally, I find her work fascinatingly descriptive of life
in Ireland, but destructive in the lack of ethical judgement of what she describes – The Island of Saints and Scholars has disappeared in reality and gets ever more distant with works such as hers. As a gift, it nearly completes the full selection of her works for these friends – Amazon offering fantastic service in providing what we
look for. With thanks – Sean (J.M.)O’Connor, (4th generation)New Zealander.

The tale is fine, but as has been mentioned, 87 pages, and persons 87 pages are printed in a very large font.

I like Maeve Binchy and so when I saw this new “book” available for the Kindle I bought it immediately. But, as a replacement for of a full-part novel, I was disappointed to find that this was only a fleeting tale. If I had known this was only a fleeting tale, I would not have bought it as $8 is too much for a fleeting tale. It appears that this was one of several fleeting tales in an anthology, but is being sold separately for the Kindle.

If you like Maeve Binchy, you will like this book. The terrible thing is that it is very fleeting (an evening or less). The excellent thing is that it’s quintessential Binchy. Everything you’ve loved about any of her additional books you will like about this one. Highly recommended!!!

This book is for English learners. Amazon publicity DID NOT make that clear. As an educated native English speaker I establish the tale “cute” but BORING! It took me less than 1 hour to read. I like Maeve Binchy’s “REAL” novels and own many of them. HAD I KNOWN WHAT THIS BOOK REALLY WAS, I WOULD NOT HAVE WASTED MY MONEY ON IT!!!
