I selected up this book to look at it in the book store and did what I permanently do when I look at a new diet book, look at what fats they recommend. After seeing that they recommended the tired ancient vegetable oils that are all incorrect for us……..I slammed the book shut and place it right back on the shelf. These vegetable oils are one of the reasons our country is so sick. If they don’t recommend coconut oil and additional healthy fats from the past, then I know I should be careful about trusting anything else they say. Most of persons oils in the grocery store are terrible news and it is hard for me to judge people still recommend them. It is common sense to note that these oils were not around until recent decades and our bodies are rejecting them. What did generations before us eat lacking getting heart disease and cancer? Not these highly processed fats. Even though Atkins should get some credit for building everyone aware of what carbs can do to us, hence the two stars, I was hoping this book would be updated with new info as a way of improving on the ancient Atkins diet. I was disappointed. To know what fats are healthy read “Know Your Fats : The Perfect Primer for Understanding the Nutrition of Fats, Oils and Cholesterol” (Paperback)

This book had a few more suggestions than the first to come out. There are a few that were new to me and would have helped me at the beginning better if I would have known. It recommends exercise while the additional book didn’t.A lot of it is the same thing but you do get a lot of different thoughts also.

I have spent several weeks on the Atkin’s diet and was looking for a nicely rounded source of information not only on the nutrition of the program. This book is very helpful with the fitness area of the program. I keep it on my coffee table as an simple source to help keep me reaching to my goal. I would recommend it to anyone interested in the Atkin’s program. I thought the book was brilliant, as it went into details about the diet plot and how things have changed. What is really nice is the list of foods that you can chose from depending on what level of Carb intake you are going for!
