Product Description
He holds the secret that can end the world.
The truth: Nicholas Flamel was born in Paris on September 28, 1330. Nearly 700 years later, he is acknowledged as the greatest Alchemyst of his day. It is said that he learned the secret of eternal life.
The records show that he died in 1418.
But his tomb is empty.
The legend: Nicholas Flamel lives. But only because he has been building the elixir of life for centuries. The secret of eternal life is hidden within the book he protects—the Book of Abraham the Mage. It’s the most powerful book that has ever existed. In the incorrect hands, it will ruin the world. That’s exactly what Dr. John Dee plans to do when he steals it. Humankind won’t know what’s happening until it’s too late. And if the prophecy is right, Sophie and Josh Newman are the only ones with the power to save the world as we know it.
Sometimes legends are right.
And Sophie and Josh Newman are about to find themselves in the middle of the greatest legend of all time.

I went on to additional books and chose to give this one a try then Chapter Four bothers me so much that I am not going to end this book. Why? Harry Potter fans will know this (paraphrased) “I learned the secret to the philosopher’s stone . . .I learned how to change metal into gold . . . but more than this I establish the recipe for a formulation of herbs and spells that keeps disease and death at bay.” Then it goes on to say that this book is needed to make a potion they must drink once a month to keep them alive and lacking the recipe they will die.
Okay if you are over two centuries ancient because of a recipe would you not have it memorized by now? Besides that fact J.K. Rowling had stated that the Philosophers / Sorcerers stone was the elixir of life and Lord Voldemort wanted it to live . . . not a stupid book.
In a nutshell the leader never understood J.K. Rowling and needs to realize the kind of audience he is writing to. This would be excellent for teenagers but the world of Harry Potter and beyond are way older than 15.

I haven’t loved a book this much in ages. If you are a mythology lover, reasonably a few of your ancient friends will be here. Packed with action, but well written to boot. I for one , am waiting nervously for the next book in the series. Bravo Mr. Scott.

This “book” reads like something that belongs on the Sunday comics page directly between Prince Valiant and Zits. The leader exhibits a sesnibility for very ancient history about as deep and lasting as newsprint. The iPod-cellphone-gizmo crew will swallow it down with everything else that’s a half-nanometer thick and pass on to the next thing. ANYONE with a genuine affection and empathy for alchemy, for Flamel, for Dee and for the very ancient deities will be wincing every alternate paragraph. DO NOT give it to a teenager you care about: they are better off with candid misinterpretations of very ancient wisdom rather than this masquerade. Ugh!

When I finished the last Harry Potter book, I felt a small sad for the tale to end. Then I establish The Alchemyst and it’s like an addition to the Harry Potter tale! Brilliant Reading and I can’t wait to read the next book about the Immortal Nicholas Flamel!
