You can tell it’s more recent than Homer, but still: what these classics are missing is observation. It’s all plot — and don’t forget, not much happened in the ancient days except sailing and feasting!

Brilliant job on the translation by Knox and Fagles. Sorry to say, the tale is not as excellent as that on the Iliad, or even the Odyssey. The Aenid is a classic, but its a weak plagiarized version of Homer’s books. It’s hard to delight in reading the meandering Aenid after the relentless Iliad or the evocative Odyssey.

This book arrived on time and was in groundbreaking new conditions. The book was at a excellent fee and I saved at least 6 dollars, and possibly 10 dollars of gas. Money worth spending on this book.
