After reading the 1st and 2nd 39 clues I expected the best from this leader but establish myself not able to read past the 1st chapter!!! I thought it would get better as it went, but no such luck. If anything, it got worse… I HATED IT!!!!!! It was dull and the cards and games on the internet are just an publicity ploy. These people don’t care about writing GOOD books, they just care about money. The 3rd book is just like the 1st and second, a dull chase that tells young readers you can’t trust your family tree. excellent message! It seems like the leader ran out of anything to write so he just hackneyed his earlier(and better)books. If you are smart you will not read this book!

My ten year ancient daughter really liked the first two books in this series. BUT … she has not been able to get past the first or second chapter of this book. “It is not as appealing” or “as actiony” as the additional books. It could be a matter of style – perhaps she just doesn’t connect with this leader. In any event, she may choose to just skip it and go on to Book 4.

After maxing out on the Maxium Ride adventures, my kid and I were hoping that the 39 Clues series would be a excellent follow up. Not So. We were disappointed in the simplistic characters and their way too predictable situations. Maybe very, very young ones could lilke them, but I wouldn’t recommend for a strong reader.

I really liked the first two book and I re listened to book 3 and I forgot how much I disliked it.
This book lacks the charm of the first two books. The leader doesn’t seem to know the concept of the series. The first two books had a lot of history in it and made it appealing, the third book doesn’t. It’s a very slow read and I had to force myself to listen to it.
The characters seemed flat and didn’t renovate any, not at all. Dan was very annoying and acted like a brat. It also bothered me that the leader had Amy fall for her cousin. That was really disturbing.
The writing style seemed a bit off. One of the most troubling things was non human noises we had to read. Cars that went SCREEEEEEECH and horns that went HOOOONKKK!!! Heck as a reader we also had points of view from a dog and a cat. UG!
Over all I’d say pass on this one and go to the next one in the series. I read that his leader will be writing another book in the series, I may have to skim that one.
Overall, read it if you want to, but don’t expect to much.

I really loved books 1 & 2 in this series. The writing in this third book simply did not engage me nearly as well as in the first two. The leader of this one didn’t explore the history nearly as much as the first two did. The action seemed cliche and I establish myself pushing through the book just to end it and find out what happened. Disappointing, but not so much so that I won’t go on to Book 4 in the series…
