You can hear — your baby can hear — so whatÆs the deal? Every parent knows how frustrated — how enraged — babies become when they canÆt make themselves clear to their families. But now, before they can talk, they can tell you what they mean — with signs!
Signing has taken the parenting world by storm. Why? Every parent is keen to give their baby the best possible upbringing, the least frustration, and the best head start for achieving in todayÆs driven, competitive society. Research (funded by the National Institutes of Health) has establish that signing babies: talk sooner and have larger vocabularies; have stronger parent/child bonds; have less frustration, crying and irritability; show more interest in books; engage in more sophisticated play; and have privileged IQ scores. Now, what parent doesnÆt want that?
Baby signing has been featured on Dateline and Oprah. Teach Your Baby to Sign features photographs of babies signing, plus line illustrations of each sign. And it provides 200 useful signs — more than any additional book — so parents can have a wide selection to choose from, along with stage-by-stage guidance so theyÆll know which signs to teach first and which to add as they and their baby become progressively more skilled and comfortable with signing.

I bought this book about a month ago and have chosen a few basic signs to start using with my 7 month ancient. She’s not to where she can sign back yet, but this book has provided me with some fantastic signs to get ongoing with. Because some words can have duel meaning (more/again) I like that they kind of help you out with which one to use for what. Also, they talk about how to get ongoing and what to look for when you start signing. I’ve noticed that now when I sign “book” my daughter gets really excited. Even though she can’t sign back, the book told me to look for clues that she’s starting to know my signs and I can definitly see this happening. I’m very pleased with this buy.

My spouse and I establish this book very simple and simple to use. Our son is a small too young to start signing, but we have ongoing teaching ourselves a few of the signs – and let our son get used to them. We are looking forwards to seeing the progression over the next few months.

I’m not looking for me or my child to become a sign practiced, but I wanted to be able to teach him some of the basic signs to help in his everyday communication. This book covers all the basics and then some. I use it as a quick reference guide and find the instructions and pictures very helpful. I am thinking of buying this book for my child’s daycare so his teachers can learn the signs, too. I highly recommend!
