Product Description
With decades of experience effective with ADD children, Dr. Edward Hallowell has long argued that ADD is too regularly misunderstood, mistreated, and mislabeled as a “disability.” Now he teams up with top literary ADD researcher Peter S. Jensen, M.D., to bring you an invaluable new approach to helping your ADD child. Superparenting for ADD offers a point game plot including
• UNCONDITIONAL LOVE Tune out the diagnosticians and simply nourish the spirit of your child for who he is.
• VIEWING THE MIRROR TRAITS Admit the positive sides of the negative symptoms linked with ADD: stubbornness = persistence; impulsiveness = creativity; intrusiveness = eagerness.
• THE CYCLE OF EXCELLENCE Nurture an environment in which a child can safely take risks, set aside time to let a child dabble as a way to learn, encourage playful practice, support mastery of a skill, and then admit a child’s accomplishments.

I bought this book for my daughter who is having many and severe problems with her son. The leader has worked on ADD and ADHD (and some bi-polar) afflicted children for 16 years. Thus she knows whereof she speaks. She elaborates on definitions by citing examples she has seen in her daily practice. My daughter also likes this method of presentation and informs me that she and her spouse are applying the methods and principles of this book. The leader does not stress nor snub medicines but favors behavorial modifications as the best mode of treatment.
