Huang traced the roots of the language to before 221 B.C. to get to the original intent; Besides offering a wonderfully clear translation, Huang adds an introduction to the history behind Sun-Tzu and his own comments on the meaning of the text. In addition, Sun-Tzu includes six appendices, five of which were uncovered at Linyi and are not establish in additional editions. The writings of Sun-tzu have stood the test of time, and J. H. Huang’s Sun-Tzu is the edition for the next millennium and beyond.

I was not a fan of this book. I’m sure on some levels it is very vital and has some greatness to it, but I never establish it. I establish the book to be dull and not once did it hold my attention. While it may be a classic, I placed my copy on the bottom shelf.

This book will provide you the knowledge to declare war on Amazon – against a corporation who has chosen to silently and stupidly to censore the offerings online. They will not sell books that they deem as perceived ‘gay’ works. Welcome to Am-carthy-son.

Though the translation has many notes and as far as I can see, is accurate, there is at least one thing that bothers me. In one passage on lifting an autumn “hair,” this translation has “hare.” Hair seems to be the right word because all the additional translations have hair. If this mistake was overlooked, you just have to marvel what else? What’s weird but is that an earlier translation The Seven Military Classics from the same leader has that one passage with the word “hair.” Go figure.

My son thought it was a larger book, so it was not what he expected.
