I owe Alex and Brett Harris a huge thank you. Why? Because my son, Parker, and I read their last book, Do Hard Things, together and it had a huge impact on us. In that book, I feel like they captured what every parents dreams for their children. We want them to make the most of their God agreed gifts. We want them to be sold out to Christ. And we want them to strive to make a difference and not settle for complacency. Alex and Brett did all of persons things and more.
Whenever I like a book, I can’t wait for the leader to come out with the next one. Well, the waiting is over. Alex and Brett have finally delivered the much-anticipated sequel: Start Here. Not only will this book fuel your God-agreed dreams, it will give you practical tips on where to start. I’ve establish that the first step of faith is permanently the toughest. Part of it is uncertainty. Part of it is inertia. But this book is the antidote to both of persons things. Many dreams die at the hands of “how.” We don’t know “how” to make it take place so we give up on what God has place in our hearts. I genuinely judge this book will resurrect the dreams God has place in your heart.
No matter where you are on your spiritual journey, Start Here. –Mark Batterson

Start Here is a tiny, simple to read book that gives persons teens wanting to do hard things a place to start. Filled with practical questions and answers, the book takes the reader on a journey from getting ongoing to what to do when they have an thought, but don’t know where to take it. The book doesn’t sugar coat the fact that doing hard things is HARD and that keeping God first is vital every step of the way! But the book doesn’t place you hanging when you do run into distress. It gives practical advice on how to keep going when you feel overwhelmed or doubt you really heard God.
What I like about this book is that it’s a practical guide from real life examples. Real teens doing hard stuff and building a difference. The tales are inspiring and hopefully will help your teen see doing hard things may be hard, but it’s not impossible!

This book is fantastic, my daughter is reading it now. She loved their first one, and if you have teens or pre teens I can’t recommend this highly enough. What these guys are doing is inspirational and they tell to kids in a very special way.

I want to extend a heartfelt “Thank you” to Alex and Brett Harris and their publisher for sending me a copy of “Start Here” to review for them. I have permanently been grateful for this generosity, and I am trying to improve at being consistent in taking the time to thank these wonderfully giving individuals in a public forum. I really appreciate your time, effort and expense in building a reviewer copy available to me.
I wish I would have read Alex and Brett Harris’ book “Do Hard Things”. I reflect it would have really added to the experience that I painstakingly loved while reading their latest effort, “Start Here”. This incredible book gives several suggestions for implementing the action of doing hard things. The text even goes as far as giving point thoughts for hard things to do. Your mission, if you choose to accept it, is to apply these challenges that cannot help but grow your faith and your relationship with Christ and additional Christians. This is a book that should not be missed by teens and adults, alike…even if you haven’t read “Do Hard Things”.

In this “sequel” to Do Hard Things, Alex and Brett Harris show youth how to, START doing hard things. They answer questions they’ve received from teens since writing their first book.
This book is full of tales of how God has used young adults in His service. Discussion questions make this an simple book to work through in a group setting.
If you’re looking for an encouraging, faith-building book for your youth to read, this may be the one.

Alex & Brett Harris, authors of _Do Hard Things_, have written a useful and friendly guide to taking the next step in _Start Here_. The authors want to help persons young people who have a desire to “do hard things” get ongoing on that journey and this is a how-to manual for that process. With the teenage or young adult audience in mind, the book is an simple read.
Although simple and straightforward, the book contains excellent “life principles” for any person to follow and is not lacking doses of reality (eg. criticism will come, people will get excited about your thought but fail to follow through, etc) and the encouragement to keep going. Likewise, they do a excellent job in the opening chapters talking about learning your natural talents, spiritual gifts, and discerning God’s will. These sections have broader application than just a “hard thing” project, and are useful life skills for a Christian young person, open in a Biblically consistent manner.
Overall, I am keen to hear the Harris brothers verbally when they are in Canada (Surrey in May and Edmonton in June). If their writing is any indication, it should be a challenging and inspiring day for our teenagers/young adults and will help them get ongoing on building choices that will give their life the purpose and meaning God proposed. Any teen who reads these books will be better for having done so.
