The Excellent:
A excellent Anti-Slavery message.
The buildup to hopefully a pretty excellent shoot out between the Mandalorians and the Jedi.
Another visit to the realm beyond the shadows or the afterlife.
The Terrible:
Not as much action as I would like in a Star Wars novel.
The one huge showdown at the end of the novel was rather anti-climatic and predictable.
My number one concern, as permanently, is the amount of EU Star Wars minimalism in these tales, but outside a few minor examples this tale did not have any major offensives:
- Now though the language the Sith are language is being heard for the first time, it took way too long to translate it. The Star Wars universe should long possess the equipment to translate a new language in seconds, especially considering the fact I doubt it was radically different from the million of additional languages spoken in the Galaxy.
- I did smirk when Daala said something like the fates of billions weighed on her decisions, that should really amount to a tiny section of Coruscant.
One pattern I do not like seeing in of many these EU Star Wars tales is so much time being dedicated to stupid politicians, lawyers, a near constant and nauseating pro-democracy message, (I know I can’t be the only one who would want to see Padme get no lines in the Clone Wars cartoon) and just bringing in real present day issues to the tale. Star Wars needs more tales about real leaders and smart vital hard effective people like Emperors, Kings, Queens, the Core Nobility, the military, doctors, and scientists.
Bottom line more sci-fi/fantasy fundamentals in the tale and more realism in the numbers used to clarify the Star Wars universe.

I have kept up with the new series of star wars fate of the jedi since it started and i really liked where it was heading with Luke forced off the planet and takes his son exploring the steps of there sith-turned cousin/nephew back to figure out why he turned to the dark side but then out of no where Christie goldie completly changes the path introduces this “lost tribe of sith” that act like fools. this book doesnt even deserve 1 star as far as im concern shes ruining star wars and is building a mockery of the sith vs jedi! they are suppose to be archenemies! forever! there is no way in flipin hell would they join up together they (the sith and there fleet of destroyers) would have blew the skywalkers out of the sky right there and then and took the loss of their 1 captured sith apprentice Vestara BECAUSE SHE AINT WORTH IT THE DEATH OF THE SKYWALKERS WOULD HAVE BEEN. sith are suppose to be the most intelligent destructive vile tormentors of the galaxy (just look at everything Palpatin did!) these new sith are a joke. cristie goldie is treating star wars deepest rivaly as a joke, and i pray she never writes for star wars again because once again shes ruining everything. I kno troy denning kind of wrote her into a confront but sith and jedi wud never allie they would brilliantly exscape. and what ever take place to searching for jacen’s path to the darkside? how about hearing more about what is really being said during the trials on corucant as a replacement for of skipping it and writing she return to her cell exhausted. and turning luke and the sith saber like troubled parents to there teenage son and daughter who seemed to keep getting in distress is stupid sith do not place up with nonsense at all. this is a terrible book and the characters are all incorrect.

Jedi Grand Master Luke Skywalker and his son Jedi Knight Ben are on a mission to find out what turned Jacen Solo to the dark side of the Force. Accompanying them is Sith Apprentice Vestara Khai from the unknown Sith tribe on the planet Kesh. Luke and Ben are surrounded in space by a Sith armada that include Vestara’s father. Shockingly, as a replacement for of killing the Skywalker pair and their crew, the Sith offers a temporary alliance. They want to go with Luke and company when they enter the Maw, an area of black holes and hostile space. They agree to a joint mission.
The Jedi who spent their childhood during the war at Shelter are going insane. The dark creature who lives in a black cluster in the Maw, Abeloth, is thought to somehow influence persons losing their minds. The Sith have reasons of their own to find her. As they enter the Maw, back at Coruscant, the capital of the Galactic Alliance, Chief of State Natasi Daala continues her assault on the Jedi Order trying to turn them into outlaws or obedient to her governmental rule.
This is the middle book in a nine saga arc, but it remains an exciting Star Wars entry with a stunning twist as well as moving forwards on the two overarching themes. Filled with the trademark action expected of a Star Wars thriller, Allies also contains an intriguing alliance between enemy combatants and an even more fascinating theme of slavery perfect with rebels, underground railroads with conductors and a quasi organization located on planets where slavery is officially authorized. Leia and Han are in minor but critical roles finding ways to break Daala’s siege while also bringing needed humor to lighten the dark forces moving across the galaxy.

I have read 50 + Star Wars books, this is by far the most dull one yet. This whole book is mainly about everyone but Luke and Ben. It kept talking about freeing the slaves, I could sh@t less about chapter after chapter of slave crap. Then there is all the court room drama crap, felt like I was reading a John Crisham novel. This book has NOTHING till the last few pages, and the battle between Luke and the super powerful darkside being was like a quater of a page, he’s had better lightsaber battles with younglings.
