I absolutely had a fantastic time with this book. The writing style is light and straightforward. I felt like the leader was in the same room, relating a tale to me. I’ve seen a review stating that the writing was dreadful but I didn’t see that. I thought the characters were developed appropriately and I felt like the tale stirred along reasonably well.
In fleeting, this was a fun read. Certainly worth the 99 cents. I’m off to download Soul Intent now.

One star for coming up with such an appealing concept, but the book never hits the mark. Contrived and flat, the book doesn’t know what it wants to be. At $0.01 it wasn’t worth the time.

I was intrigued by the thought place into the world in the synopsis of this novel. I ordered it for the Kindle after reading the reviews. I’m starting to reflect I can’t trust Amazon Reviews anymore. People seem to be willing to settle for terrible writing…and that is what this novel is. I gave it 2 stars because the thought was appealing and at least the guy got it out on paper.
Within the first few pages I could tell this was self-published….seems like there is a lot of this lately. People making their own ‘cooperatives’ to publish under because they can’t get their book published under the traditional methods. Some of these are excellent works that are unjustly looked over. Others like this book are fantastic thoughts that fall flat due to unpolished writing.
The fantastic thoughts in this tale should have been fleshed out. It felt like a skeleton of a real novel. The leader breaks the ’show don’t tell’ rule contantly. There were so many times I wanted to know more and he’d just jump to another theme or jump forwards in time. The dialogue felt canned and unrealistic. One of the initial thoughts was that a ‘national’ would be approached by this company after the company approached the protagonist about a ‘job’. How convenient.
I’ve read 3 self published books over the last few months and all I can say is I’m thinking of lobbying that anything that is self-published needs to be labeled so for patrons because right now with the self-published titles I’ve read lately I would definately reflect 4 or 5 times before spending money on another. I would NOT recommend this self-published novel to anyone even if it was free.
