I am so glad that I establish this book. It is well written and not at all overdone. Nancy Rue really shows girls how to get help through prayer as Sophie (6th grade) has to wade through social turmoil and finally starts to slow down and pray in the midst of it all(with the help of a counselor). I like the message and I like the way it is open. Very appropriate for 8 and up.

Sophie’s a creative soul living with a family tree of doers. They like each additional, but they never seem to be on the same page.
Her world starts to change when her family tree decides it is time for therapy, and a new girl arrives who wants to be her friend.
I took a star away because of the ending. I know it’s a series, and I liked that her relationship with Maggie was still up in the air by the end of the book. Maggie did have excellent reason for not trusting Sophie. But I felt like Sophie’s relationship with her father was such an vital part of this book that it should have at least been resolved some in this book as a replacement for of leaving it hanging for future books.
It is a Christian book with Christian themes, but I never felt like it was too preachy.

I loved this book. I also like Nancy Rue’s additional books too. She does a really excellent job of getting you interested and keeping you that way until the end. Can’t wait to read more of this series.

If or if not you are a Christian, read this book! It is about a young girl, Sophie, who dreams up her own small worlds, & she has NO friends. Her parents get mad because she gets a lot of C’s & D’s on her Report Card! They won’t let her dream during class & on and on. Then, she makes a friend that likes to dream to! They help each additional out The whole year! They stay clear of Corn Pops & Fruit Loops! They make their own club, the Corn Flakes!
This is book strong with friends forever!

This book is about a young girl who is not reasonably ready to grow up, who regularly feels misunderstood and who struggles to “fit in” with her seemingly fickle and shallow peers. The leader does a fantastic job of demonstrating the positives of having a “child-like” attitude and creative scenery. This book would be fantastic for all young girls between the ages of 12 and 14 who find the transition from girl-hood to the teenage years challenging.
