This was one of the worst books I’ve ever not finished. I despised Rachel so much I couldn’t end this book. I liked Something Blue, because I loved the character of Darcy. But Rachel is such a whining, self absorbed, insecure small witch I couldn’t end Something Borrowed. She and Dex deserve each additional. What a couple of grave human beings. And I establish it hysterical how the leader kept trying to make Rachel out to be a heroine so she kept trying to make Darcy worse. I HATED Rachel and loved Darcy. Guess the manipulation didn’t work.

ok, so I disagree with nearly everyone, I thought the book was stupid, shallow and just a waste of time. Excellent thing I was on the beach in Hawaii or I would have tossed it. Sorry, just a “dumb blonde” book.

The main character of this book is by far the most unlikable protaganist I’ve ever come across. She sleeps with her best friend of 20 years fiance and doesn’t feel guilty about it!! And she whines relentlessly about how her friend is so lucky and how she’s been outshone by her all these years. Well, maybe that’s because you’re an f’ing loser, sweetheart. The only reason I finished this book was because I was hoping she’d meet some terrible fate and end up even more miserable.

I did really like this book. It was well-written and heartfelt. But, I establish the message to be missing and more than a small twisted. Since when is it okay to throw away a childhood friendship over a guy? I just really didn’t find it justifiable that Rachel got so heavily involved with Dex, no matter how she felt about him. Not even when the leader started to portay Darcy as an unsympathetic character did I judge that Rachel’s affair with Dex was justifiable. It’s not okay to “go” for your best acquaintances significant additional, ever, no matter the circumstances. Just like it’s not okay to deceive your best friend for your own satisfaction. So what if Darcy was slightly snotty and kind of a pain? Rachel should have grown a spine and learned to stand up to her, as a replacement for of embarking on a secret relationship with her fiance and effective out all of her Darcy aggression that way.
I also didn’t reflect of Dex as a compassionate character. If he was so miserable with Darcy and so interested in Rachel, then he should have broken up with Darcy and pursued Rachel. I really never felt sorry for him at any time in the tale. He played the part of having been kind of forced into his relationship with Darcy, and when he realized it wasn’t what he wanted, stirred on to Rachel lacking the slightest concern about the outcome of her friendship with Darcy.
I didn’t reflect of Rachel as particularly courageous or risk-taking because she fell for Dex when he was with Darcy and carried on with him in secret. As a replacement for I felt like all this tale really proved is that a girl will permanently choose a guy over a friend.
I will be interested to see what happens in the sequel, but will never clarify this book as wonderful or incredible. It was excellent, but that’s it.
