Product Description
Secret of the Sands is an AWARD-WINNING mystery novel. It won the silver medal in the category of “Fiction-Mystery” in the Readers Favorite 2009 book contest. SECRET OF THE SANDS is an Indiana Jones type of adventure novel – suitable for ages 12 to 112! – where the reader is treated to two adventures-in-one as it weaves back and into the world between a royal family tree with a potentially deadly secret in very ancient Egypt and the adventures of a couple of modern-day archaeologists on a mission to uncover an incredible manufactured article that could change the world.
In the shadow of the Fantastic Sphinx of Giza, two young archaeologists unearth extremely unusual artifacts dating over 12,000 years ancient. Not only could this change everything we thought we knew about Very ancient Egypt, but the exhilarating find is incorrect – very incorrect. The artifacts shouldn’t be there…they shouldn’t even exist at all. The greatest discovery in human history may also turn out to be the deadliest…
The adventure novel Secret of the Sands is a small bit “Indiana Jones” meets “The Mummy” meets “National Treasure”, which also has shades of “The Chronicle of Narnia” and “The Golden Compass” in it. (edited by leader)

I don’t know how a name can compare this book to books by James Rollins and Wilbur Smith. Not even close. I have never written a review but felt I needed to on this one. It was horrible. I gave it a chance but finished up just throwing it in the trash. The people doing the reviews must be friends of the authors. Don’t buy it unless you need the pages to start a fire.

I read several of the reviews on Amazon and chose to try this book. I was completely disappointed. There are so many things going on that would never take place that the tale looses it’s credibility. The two main characters are effective on an archaeological dig but they hide their findings from their superiors. The very ancient Egyptians have equipment beyond anything we’ve dreamed of but still they fight mainly with swords. I never did figure out what the object of power really did. This book was very poorly thought out and the writers are armatures. The scenes with sex or violence are approached at a Disney level. It’s completely unrealistic. If you want to read some excellent Egyptian history read River God by Wilbur Smith. The Journeyer by Gary Jennings is even better though it’s Asian history.

This book would be okay if you’re a 12 yr ancient reader. I establish the writing style reasonably immature.

I was really disappointed in this book. The tale has fantastic promise, but as another reviewer pointed out, the characters in the “present day” part of the book were weak, cartoonish and simply not believable. The character development for the “very ancient era” was better and gave me some hope that the sequel – if there is one – might improve this weakness and keep the tale going.

The tale line was excellent but, I felt like I was reading a Junior High book.
Sorry I bought it.
