Part 4 in the Scott Pilgrim series lives up the the standards set by the previous three volumes. I won’t go into detail describing the plot, as that as been documented pretty well. I will say this is a fun, entertaining read. Every time I pick up the newest volume, I re-read all the previous episodes and delight in them as much as the first time I read them. A highly-recommended series. Can’t wait for the next issue.

the ghettoManga Cartoonist of the Year Award for 2008 goes to Brian Lee O’Malley writer/artist of the OGN series Scott Pilgrim. Part four of the series “Scott Pilgrim Gets It Together” was voted the 2008 OGN of the Year.
Explaining the appeal of Scott Pilgrim is not hard. it’s a book about a twenty-something slacker who falls in Luh… Luh… who really likes this manner of language girl named Ramona who just so happens to take fleeting cuts through Scott’s dreams (there’s a really excellent subspace portal that passes through there…). the problem is he can only date Ramona if he agrees to vanquish her Seven Evil Ex-boyfriends, but that’s okay, ’cause Scott also happens to have MAD fightin’ skills!
as you may have noticed, Scott Pilgrim is filled with hijinx, action, and tiny to medium doses of mushy stuff! in “Gets It Together”, Scott and Ramona wrestle with the L word (no, not lesbian!), Scott’s band gets a chance to record, and Scott is stalked by a mysterious swordsman… excellent times! OH! and Scott faces off with another of Ramona’s Evil Exes who’s a small different than the others. the events of this volume force Scott to grow up (a small… he ACTUALLY gets a JOB!) and foreshadows his eventual meeting with Gideon (the evilest Ex of them all)in part 6 reasonably nicely!
O’Malley takes advantage of the OGN format (popularized by the mass importing of manga) as well as anyone i’ve ever read. the pacing and storytelling in Scott Pilgrim would be very, very hard to pull off in any additional format. O’malley’s art is deceptively cartoony, like a cross between Schulz’s Peanuts, Waterson’s Calvin and Hobbes and your favorite fighting video game. O’Malley combines humor, action and adolescent sweetheart drama as well as onyone since Stan Lee and Romita on classic Incredible Spiderman. Really, just buy the books. the 200 plus page joints are available for ten bucks apiece on Amazon, and well worth the money! start with Scott Pilgrim, Vol. 1: Scott Pilgrim’s Precious Small Life and by the time you get to this one, you will be a total Zombie for the talented Mr. Pilgrim!
peace.
samax.

If you’re a fan of Canada, video games, odd humor and just pure ridiculous fun, Scott Pilgrim is for you.
As of Jan. 2009, Vol 4 is the latest in the Scott Pilgrim series from Bryan Lee O’Malley.
Scott Pilgrim follows Scott Pilgrim (SURPRISE, SURPRISE) as he goes from day to day living his life and trying to date the girl of his dreams, Ramona Flowers.
I say “trying” because he must defeat Ramona’s Seven Evil Exes before he can truly date her.
I’ve been following Scott Pilgrim religiously since Volume 1 and it’s been nothing but fun since.
Scott Pilgrim’s easily my favorite comic book character and the fact that he’s stupid yet lovable only makes him more awesome.

This series is really really excellent. It might help to have played some Final Fantasy or similar video games to get everything, but it should be still awesome either way.
