Product Description
Fifteen years ago, Dashiell “Dash” Terrible Horse ran away from a life of poverty and hopelessness on the Prairie Rose Indian Reservation in search of something better. Now he’s come back home armed with nothing but a set of nunchucks, a hell-bent-for-leather attitude and one dark secret, to find nothing much has changed on “The Rez” — fleeting of a glimmering new casino run by a corrupt leader named Red Crow, and a once-proud people overcome by drugs and organized crime.
In this volume, Red Crow commits a murder in front of witnesses and the FBI finally thinks they have the dirt they need to place him away. Meanwhile, Dash’s loyalty to Red Crow is tested as his addiction to heroin intensifies.

In this sixth installment in the series, all characters remain as dark, manipulative, murderous, scheming, doomed etc. as ever. Except for an Indian Sheriff who’s trying to make sense of all the killings. In this Indian reservation, all kinds of trafficking and killings take place, and the FBI tries to arrest Chief Red Crow for the murder of a cop in 1975. But, it seems that everybody will die before the truth is out on that murder (and on another one too but shhh, no spoiler!). The co-creators, AARON and GUERA are back together for the 5 issues collected here, and this volume stands as one of the best in the series.

This is the best comic book being published today, or at least, I judge, the best one I have read. Being a cast made up of creator-owned characters, the stakes are real, and any fate can befall any member of it. This was made known in volume two.
Another thing that makes Scalped fantastic is that the characters talk very much like real people, or at least how I imagine real people would talk if living the lives of the characters within the context of the tale.
I permanently tell people that this is the one serialized tale that I cannot miss, and I judge it. But, reading it in trade as I do, I really only know my own stated like for this work every five to eight months, or but regularly it is that a new trade comes out. It is superb.
Aaron has the single best approach to writing both chapters within a tale arc and tale arcs as chapters of the larger, overall work of any scribe in comics today. His pacing is unparalleled.
I absolutely like how inevitable every twist seems as it is happening, and immediately after. This is because, despite the seeming predictability, I am squirming every panel of the way, heart racing, rooting for nearly every cast member to somehow come out on top, or at least alive. Some of them manage this.
Also, Guera’s art is really nice, though I didn’t like it until volume two. I’m not positive, but my memory tells me that the tan was not complementary early on. It may just be that I wasn’t ready to like the art at first, though.
Basically, if you like comics and are not offended by cursing, cartoon nudity, etc., you should be reading this series.
