I just came from Spain and I got this book as one of 3 , I permanently take the books to the trip even the lagguage is
very heavy but if you have a excellent travel book, it is priceless in your trip.
One travel book of Northern Spain my spouse and I used it every day for 2 weeks although we establish out
that it was 2 years ancient and that was a minus espessialy in restaurants.
Rick Steves book I saved for the solo travel in Madrid and Toledo, it looked basic and not so heavy,
it was simple to place in shoulder bag.
When I ongoing to use it I was so upset with this book: very superficial, not so much depth in it,
he surfaces most legendary places in Spain, that is all, no surprise in it, nothing to find but already
well known and not so much intelligence as well. I realized in TV travel show you can show the
pretty photos and say couple of words, you do not need to be smart, just have a pleasant voice.
The description of Prado was patetic, so as of cathedral guide in Toledo.
This book was not for me, it did not give me anything that I needed know, I did not like the style of the book
as well. I fervently recomend to look for something else before you just buy this one on the spot as I did.
I will never will use his books for travel, it is chose for me. Excellent luck with your adventures!

I had never used Rick Steve’s guides before our recent 3 week trip to Spain. I will permanently use his guides from now on. They are clear, detailed, and invaluable. It was like having an veteran Spaniard guide us through subways, museum entrances, tourist sights, local tapas bars, and a heap of additional potentially confusing moments in a new and as yet unexplored country. I recommend them highly.

Excellant advice. No too intricate but hits the high spots. Tells you why you should see or do something. Excellent uncomplicated maps.

It was very disapointing. We have permanently used Rick for our traveling (Rome, Paris, Brussels, Amsterdam, and Germany) but unfortunatly he let us down this time. We went to Barcelona for 4 days but I establish it very hard to plot using this book. He does a poor job of giving excellent distance references and very limited hotel options. Many of his recommended hotel’s are on Ramblas which is not a very safe area to stay, especially at night. Also, there are reasonably a bit of resturant guides which seems a small “fishy”. Barcelona is a huge city maybe it needs to be its own book.
