I have loved reading this book. They do a excellent job breaking the information down so that entry-level enthusiasts can know it. I wish there were more pictures, especially in the “breeds” section. For the money I reflect it is a very excellent piece of learning material and hopefully it will help me get ongoing with my new leisure activity.

When I saw that there was a book out called “Raising Chickens for Dummies”, I immediately ordered a copy for my ever increasing collection of chicken books.
I have been raising backyard chickens for over 15 years, and looking back, knew hardly enough about how to do it right.
This book would have been fantastic to start out with, it has all the basics of feeding, shelter, breeding, raising chicks, predator control, and how to erect housing.
I certainly reccomend this book for not only beginners, but for seasoned chicken raisers. There is permanently something to be learned, and this book covers nearly everything.
I like the illustrations of chicken houseing, and the moveable chicken “tractors”.
Health problems another excellent reference to be cognizant of.
Finding a excellent Vet that has knowledge of chickens, question people you know that have chickens, word of mouth seems to be the best way to choose.
I am very pleased with the book and use it as a reference guide, it doesn’t matter how long you have been raising chickens, beginner or seasoned backyard chicken farmer, we can all benefit from its’ contents.
