Maria, I did not buy your book and opted as a replacement for for your competition in that you did not offer a look inside. In an information-centric world, when this option is so simple and frankly expected, it looks like you judge the product will not stand up to comparison.

I have used Quicken for many years and usually update every 2 or 3 years with a new version. I really like the product that keeps my finances organized. I don’t use the program to it’s maximum capabilities but it certainly has made life simpler with online payments and bank reconciliations, plus keeping track and updating stocks, IRA’s etc. It is a GREAT program.
The installation of Quicken 2010 was a perfect nightmare. I had tried everything for 2 days and couldn’t get it in. My spouse had a laptop that had never had a previous version of Quicken in it and the program installed immediately lacking a hitch. I was able to get my files current as I had backed them up on a flash drive. It was obvious since I was able to install on the laptop that it wasn’t the program, it was my computer.
I went to the help and questioned technical support to call me. Tech support called within 10 minutes. The gentleman was from India. I clarified the problem and he had me up and running within minutes. The problem was because of the earlier versions. Even though the earlier versions were uninstalled, not everything is taken out when you do an uninstall. I was extremely pleased to have the program installed and running properly on my desk top and very pleased with tech support that I received from Quicken. The fix was a Q Clean which I would have never figured it out myself. I probably didn’t need this new version as I really don’t see a lot of differences from the 2008 version. It is a wonderful money management program but if you have an earlier version, be aware of the installation problem that I had. The buy of this book is helpful to persons that are new to Quicken. I didn’t really get a lot out of it but will use it as a reference and learning new things about Quicken. It is well written and simple to know.

Overall this is a very excellent book to keep handy when effective with Quicken. I use it when I get stuck on something. The book is simple to read and clearly written with examples of what is happening in the software. Because of the book I was able to figure out why my income totals were not what they should have been and fix the problem. I am still effective on understanding the investment, mutual fund area but that is my fault not the books. The book is worth the buy fee, I highly recommend it to anyone.
